Chapter 15 - The Unbreakable Foundation
Two years later, the Grandview ballroom where the disastrous wedding had taken place was once again filled with music, laughter, and hundreds of glittering lights—but this time, the occasion was entirely different.
It was the annual gala for the Maya Sterling Pediatric Foundation, a global charitable organization funded by Sterling Global Infrastructure that provided free legal aid, medical care, and housing support for children in vulnerable domestic situations.
Lucas Sterling stood near the grand mahogany balcony overlooking the crowded ballroom, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, holding a glass of sparkling cider.
Beside him stood Maya, now eight years old, wearing an elegant emerald dress, her dark hair styled in beautiful braids, greeting visiting doctors, philanthropists, and family friends with a poise, warmth, and confidence that captivated everyone in the room.

Maya walked over to the balcony railing, slipping her small hand into her father's large, warm palm.
"Daddy?" she asked softly, looking out over the glittering room.
"Yes, my brave girl?" Lucas smiled down at her.
"Do you remember what you told me the night the bad wedding ended?"
Lucas knelt down beside her on the balcony, bringing his face level with hers, the warm light of the chandeliers reflecting in his clear blue eyes.
"I told you that you were brave, that you saved our family, and that I would never let anyone hurt you again."
Maya smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head against his shoulder.
"You kept your promise, Daddy," she whispered.
Lucas tightened his arms around his daughter, kissing her temple with all the love, devotion, and fierce protection in his soul.
"Always, Maya," Lucas murmured, standing up with his daughter in his arms, looking out over the bright, vibrant room where their future was being written. "A promise built on love is a promise that never breaks."
