Chapter 9: The Foundation’s Secret

Nathan turned his attention to the one thing Victoria cared about most: the Harrington Foundation. For years, she had run it as her public stage—hosting galas, handing out checks, letting the world call her a hero.
He pulled every record, every donation, every expense line by line. What he found made his stomach turn.
Millions of dollars had been moved to accounts linked to her brother. To shell companies with no listed address. To payments labeled "security" or "consulting" that had no paperwork attached.
"She wasn’t just hurting the kids," Nathan said, sliding the files across the table to his lawyer. "She was stealing from the people we claimed to help. And she used the foundation’s reputation to cover it all."
But before he could submit the evidence, Victoria’s legal team released their own statement: Nathan Harrington is diverting attention from his own negligence. He ignored clear signs of distress in his home while spending foundation funds on personal travel and luxury upgrades.
Reporters swarmed the gates. The children heard the shouting outside. Liam looked up at Nathan, eyes wide.
"Are they going to believe her again?"
