Chapter 14: The Will’s Twist

Nathan pulled up his will immediately. It had been drafted years earlier, shortly after he married Victoria. He had never looked at it closely—he had trusted her.

Now he read every line.

Buried in the fine print was a clause: In the event of Nathan Harrington’s incapacity or death, Victoria Harrington shall assume full control of all family assets and guardianship of all minor children, until such time as all reach the age of twenty-five.

And there was more: All prior agreements and prenuptial terms are hereby voided.

Victoria had tricked him. She had waited until he was busy with work, until he was tired and distracted, and convinced him to sign a "routine update" that gave her everything—even if she was in prison.

"She planned this from the start," Nathan said quietly. "If anything happens to me, she wins."

His lawyer looked up from the papers, pale. "There’s one way to stop it. But we have to prove she used fraud or coercion to get you to sign. And we have to do it before the final sentencing."
