The trial of Victoria and Julian Sterling was the sensational trial of the decade.
The prosecution’s case was airtight. Dr. Harrison’s original files, combined with the toxicological evidence recovered from Helena’s exhumed remains—which the court ordered despite Victoria’s frantic legal objections—proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Victoria had systematically poisoned her employer to take her place.
Furthermore, the recording recovered from Maria's phone, which had captured Victoria’s confession in the attic just before she assaulted the house director, was played for the jury.
Victoria sat at the defense table, her hair unkempt, her expensive clothes replaced by a plain orange jumpsuit. The elegance she had prized above all else had been stripped away, leaving nothing but a bitter, broken woman.
She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Julian received twenty years for his role in the conspiracy and the assault on Arthur.
The Sterling mansion, once a place of whispering shadows and hidden pain, underwent a complete transformation. Arthur ordered a massive renovation. The dark, heavy drapes were torn down, replaced by sheer, light fabrics that allowed the sun to flood every corner of the historic house.
