Chapter 10 - The Sovereign QueenThree years after the night I was struck down on the marble floor of Kyle’s mansion, I stood in the garden of my father's estate in Lake Como, Italy.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming jasmine and white roses.

I wore a simple, breathtaking ivory gown—not chosen to satisfy public expectations, but chosen because it made me feel like myself.

Standing beside me under a canopy of green vine arches was Julian. He took my hands into his, looking at me with an intensity of love that made my heart feel impossibly full.

"Isabella," Julian whispered, sliding a simple platinum band onto my finger. "I promise to walk beside you in every storm, to honor your strength, and to protect your peace for as long as I live."

"And I promise to stand by you, Julian," I replied, a soft tear of joy falling down my cheek. "To love you without fear, and to share a life built on trust and respect."

My father stood in the front row, clapping loudly as Julian drew me into a deep, loving kiss under the Italian sunshine.

Later that evening, as the wedding guests danced near the lake under the glowing lantern light, I stepped out onto the stone terrace holding a glass of sparkling wine.

I looked down at my phone. An automated news alert popped up on my screen:

Former CEO Kyle Whitmore Denied Parole for Second Time; Serves Remaining Sentence in Maximum Security Facility.

I stared at the headline for a second, feeling no anger, no satisfaction, and no pain. I simply cleared the notification away.

Kyle was a closed chapter in a book I had long since finished reading.

Julian walked out onto the terrace, wrapping his warm jacket around my shoulders and pulling me close to his side.

"Ready to go back inside, my love?" he asked softly.

I looked up at him, then looked out over the sparkling lake, feeling the cool night breeze on my face. I was no longer a victim trapped under a crystal chandelier. I was the sovereign architect of my own life.

"Yes," I smiled, kissing his cheek. "Let's go home."
