My Husband Hurt Me Because of His Mistress—Then I Called My Billionaire Father and Said, “Destroy His Life”

Walking through the foyer was Victor Calder. At sixty-two, my father moved with the quiet, terrifying authority of a king entering a conquered territory. He wore a bespoke charcoal coat, his silver hair neatly combed back, his dark eyes sharp enough to cut through steel.
Flanking him were six men in dark suits—his personal security detail—along with Federal Investigator Arthur Vance, the very man Kyle had bribed to bury his company's offshore tax irregularities.
Investigator Vance didn't even look at Kyle. He stood behind my father like an obedient lieutenant.
Kyle scrambled out of his armchair, his knees visibly trembling. "Mr. Calder... I—I didn't know... Isabella never said..."
"Shut your mouth," Victor said. His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an weight that made the crystal chandelier above us hum softly.
Victor stepped past Kyle as if he were a piece of discarded trash on the street. He walked straight to me. His expression softened into pure, paternal warmth as he gently took my hands into his. He saw the faint red marks on my wrists and the shadow of pain on my face.
"Are you alright, my star?" Victor asked gently.
"I am now, Dad," I whispered, holding his hand tightly.
Victor nodded, then turned back to face Kyle and Thalia. The warmth vanished from his eyes, replaced by an absolute, terrifying void.
"Kyle Whitmore," Victor said calmly. "Three years ago, my daughter came to me and begged me to let her marry a young, ambitious entrepreneur. She wanted to build a life with a man who loved her for her, not for the Calder name. So I hid my identity. I funded your start-up loans through seven layer-shielded shell companies. I gave you contracts with my shipping lines. I turned you into a multi-millionaire."
Kyle’s face turned paper-white. "You... you were the anonymous syndicate from Switzerland?"
"I was your entire foundation," Victor replied coldly. "And in five minutes, I have pulled every single brick out from under your feet."
Thalia stepped back, her silk dress rustling as her fake confidence evaporated into thin air. "Wait... this is a misunderstanding! I didn't know—"
"Silence!" Victor snapped, glancing at her with utter disgust. "Investigator Vance, freeze all assets tied to Whitmore Holdings and issue the sub-poenas for embezzlement and corporate fraud. Let us see how long his 'empire' stands when the banks come to collect."
"Right away, Mr. Calder," Vance said, opening a leather briefcase and pulling out official federal restraint orders.

Kyle collapsed back onto his knees, staring at the papers in horror. "Isabella... please... you can't do this to me! We're married!"
I looked down at him from beside my father, my heart completely cold. "We were married, Kyle. But as of tonight, you are nothing to me."
