Chapter 3 - The Frozen KingdomBy eight o'clock the following morning, the financial world woke up to a seismic shockwave.

News broke across Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal: Whitmore Holdings under Federal Investigation; Major Backers Withdraw Effective Immediately.
Kyle’s stock plummeted by 84% in less than two hours. Trading was halted to prevent a total collapse.
Meanwhile, I was sitting in the high-floor penthouse of Calder Dominion Tower in downtown Denver, sipping chamomile tea in a plush robe while my father’s elite legal team worked around me.
My father’s head counsel, Sarah Sterling, placed a leather folder on my coffee table.
"Isabella, the prenuptial agreement you signed with Kyle three years ago was drafted by his lawyers to protect his assets," Sarah said with a sharp smile. "However, what Kyle didn't realize is that your father inserted a hidden rider clause into the mortgage of the estate and the corporate lease of Whitmore Headquarters."
"What kind of clause?" I asked.
"A default clause," Sarah explained. "If Kyle Whitmore engages in physical or emotional distress against you, or commits acts of marital infidelity, the entire estate, the corporate office building, and 51% of his voting shares automatically transfer to the Calder Family Trust as collateral."
I smiled softly. "So he doesn't even own the chair he sits on."
"He doesn't even own the clothes on his back," Sarah confirmed. "And as for his mistress, Thalia Vance..."
"Is she related to Investigator Vance?" I asked, caught off guard by the shared surname.
Sarah chuckled. "No relation. But our investigators dug into her background overnight. Thalia Vance is not an heiress, nor is she a high-society consultant as she claimed to Kyle. Her real name is Brenda Smith. She is a professional corporate honey-trap who has been working with a rival hedge fund to drive Kyle into bankruptcy so they could buy his tech patents for pennies on the dollar."
I gasped softly. "She was setting him up?"

"She was," Sarah nodded. "And the pregnancy? We checked her medical records through our network. She isn't pregnant, Isabella. It was a complete lie to force Kyle into divorcing you so she could finalize the asset transfer."
I leaned back against the leather sofa, feeling a profound wave of ironic satisfaction. Kyle had ruined his marriage, destroyed his life, and struck his own wife all for a lie told by a scam artist.
