Deep in the vault, the muffled sounds of gunfire echoed like distant thunder. Matteo began to fuss, disturbed by the vibrations. Desperate to soothe him, Sophie reached into the diaper bag Nico had brought down. As she pulled out a thick, embroidered blanket that had belonged to Elena, her fingers brushed against a stiff, hidden seam.
