Chapter 5 - The Gift of Silk and Glass

By Thursday evening, the master suite dressing room looked like a high-end Parisian boutique.
Graham had dispatched his personal stylist to the estate with strict instructions, three private security guards lingering outside the door to ensure absolute discretion. Hannah stood before the triple-mirrored vanity, staring at her reflection in utter disbelief.
The dress was an absolute masterpiece of midnight-blue silk, flowing gracefully from a fitted bodice down to the floor, shimmering subtly under the vanity lights like a midnight sky. Her hair had been swept up into an intricate, elegant twist by the stylist, a few loose tendrils framing her delicate face. Diamond drop earrings caught the light against her neck.
"Mommy, you look like a real princess!" Ellie cheered, spinning around in her own matching navy-blue velvet dress that had mysteriously appeared in her closet that morning.
Hannah knelt down, hugging her daughter tight, a tear threatening to spill over her lashes. "You look like a princess too, sweetie. But who is going to watch you while we go to the party?"
"Mrs. Higgins is going to make popcorn and let me watch cartoons in the screening room," Ellie beamed. "And Mr. Graham said he's going to check on us during the commercial breaks!"
The door clicked open, and Graham stepped into the room.
He was dressed in a bespoke black tuxedo, his silk tie impeccably knotted, his posture exuding absolute power and confidence. But the moment his eyes landed on Hannah standing by the vanity, all corporate composure vanished.
Graham stopped dead in his tracks.
The midnight-blue silk clung to her curves with effortless grace, and the quiet dignity in her hazel eyes took his breath away. For a fleeting second, the ghosts of his past—the betrayal, the cold emptiness of his empty mansion—evaporated.
"Well?" Hannah asked self-consciously, looking down at the floor. "Is it... is it too much? We can cancel. I can go change back into my uniform—"
"Don't you dare," Graham interrupted, crossing the room in three long strides until he stood right in front of her. He gently lifted her chin with his index finger, forcing her to look at him. "You look breathtaking, Hannah."

Hannah's breath hitched. "Graham..."
"Let's go show Nashville what a real queen looks like," he whispered, offering his arm.
