Chapter 9 - The Final ReckoningBy Friday morning, the legal strike launched by Julian Vance’s remaining loyalists was completely crushed before it ever reached a courtroom door.

Vincent’s financial team, working in tandem with Swiss banking regulators and federal prosecutors, froze over two hundred million dollars in hidden offshore accounts belonging to Pharos Capital. Exposed for money laundering and witness tampering, Vance’s appellate attorneys withdrew their motions in disgrace, facing immediate federal indictments.

Inside Sing Sing Correctional Facility, Marco Moretti sat in a cold visitation room, staring through bulletproof glass at Vincent.

Marco looked terrible. His hair was thin, his eyes hollow, his former arrogance completely shattered by two years of prison life.

"You took everything, Vincent," Marco whispered raspy into the phone intercom. "Every dollar. Every asset. Every piece of father’s name."

Vincent sat on his side of the glass, immaculate, serene, and imposing.

"You gave it away, Marco," Vincent replied through the receiver, his tone devoid of hatred, carrying only absolute truth. "You traded your family, your honor, and your freedom for a promise from Julian Vance. I didn't destroy you. You destroyed yourself the moment you looked at my medicine bottle and chose to stay silent."

Marco lowered his head, tears dripping onto his gray prison jumpsuit. "Is there... is there any chance... of a pardon? Of a settlement? I have nothing left, Vincent..."

Vincent looked at his brother for a long moment.

"I have established a private trust for your living expenses inside this facility, Marco," Vincent revealed quietly. "You will have adequate medical care, security, and basic comfort for the remainder of your sentence. You are my brother, and I will not let you suffer in squalor. But you will never set foot in Moretti Enterprises, and you will never see my home again. This is the last time I will ever come here."

Vincent hung up the phone receiver, stood up, and walked out of the visitation room without looking back. He had closed the final chapter of his past. The vengeance was over. Justice was complete.

That evening, the sun set over the Montauk coastline in a breathtaking display of brilliant orange, gold, and deep purple.

The Moretti estate was bustling with joy and laughter. A grand outdoor celebration was taking place on the sweeping lawn overlooking the ocean. The entire executive staff of Moretti Enterprises, along with Chief Harrison, medical researchers from St. Jude’s, and close personal friends were gathered around long banquet tables adorned with white flowers and twinkling fairy lights.

At the center of it all was a massive birthday cake shaped like a giant fairytale castle.

It was Lily’s sixth birthday.

Lily, wearing a sparkly pink dress and a small silver tiara, was surrounded by her school friends, running around the lawn while the golden retriever chased after them.

Clara stood on the terrace, watching her daughter with tears of pure happiness shining in her eyes. She felt a warm, strong hand gently envelope hers.

She turned to see Vincent standing beside her, holding two glasses of sparkling apple cider. He handed one to her with a warm, loving smile.

"She looks happy," Vincent said softly.

"She is happy, Vincent," Clara replied, leaning her head gently against his broad shoulder. "We both are. Two years ago, I was terrified every single day about how I would pay rent, how I would protect her, what kind of future she would have. Look at us now."

Vincent looked down at Clara. Over the past two years, as they fought side by side to rebuild the empire and raise Lily, something deep, profound, and unstoppable had grown between them. It wasn't born out of high-society arrangements or corporate convenience like his past relationship with Isabella. It was born out of genuine trust, shared resilience, and deep, quiet devotion.

Vincent set his glass down on the stone balustrade. He reached into his vest pocket and pulled out a small, velvet ring box.

Clara’s breath caught in her throat. She looked from the velvet box up to Vincent’s eyes.

Vincent opened the box, revealing a flawless, brilliant-cut diamond ring that caught the golden light of the setting sun.

"Clara," Vincent said, his deep voice rich with emotion. "Two years ago, in a room full of enemies and traitors, you and Lily brought truth into my life. You brought healing into this house, and you gave me a reason to fight for a future. I don't want an empire without you. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

Tears poured down Clara’s cheeks, but her face was illuminated by a radiant, joyous smile.

"Yes, Vincent!" she whispered softly, her voice filled with absolute devotion. "Yes! A thousand times, yes!"

Vincent slipped the shining ring onto her finger, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her deeply while the cool ocean breeze swept across the terrace.

From down on the lawn, Lily suddenly noticed them. She gasped, holding her rag doll up in the air, and squealed with pure joy.

"Molly! Look! Mr. Vincent and Mommy are hugging!" Lily shouted happily, running up the terrace steps as fast as her small legs could carry her.

She sprinted up to them, throwing her small arms around both of their legs. Vincent laughed joyfully, crouching down and scooping both Clara and Lily into a warm, unbreakable embrace.
