Chapter 8 - Fire and TruthThe top floor of the Vance Tower was engulfed in an eerie, orange glow as flames licked against the reinforced windows of the private penthouse.

Elena, Julian, and Arthur burst through the stairwell door, coughing as thick, acrid smoke billowed down the hallway. The emergency sprinkler system had been disabled manually, turning the upper floor into a suffocating oven.
"Stay back!" Arthur warned, drawing a concealed firearm from his holster as he motioned for the security guards to fan out. "Victor is unhinged. If he’s locked himself inside with Clara, he’s planning to take everyone down with him."
"I'm going in," Julian said instantly, stepping past Arthur toward the heavy mahogany double doors of the penthouse.
"Julian, no! It's suicide!" Elena yelled, grabbing his arm.
Julian turned and looked at her, his eyes burning with a fierce, unwavering resolve. For the first time in their lives, there was no hesitation between them.
"He’s my father, and Clara is the woman who raised me—broken as she is," Julian said softly, placing his hand over Elena’s. "And you... you are the woman I love. I spent my whole life living a lie built by monsters. It’s time to end it."
Before Elena could stop him, Julian slammed his shoulder against the heavy oak doors, breaking the electronic lock with a deafening crack, and surged into the burning penthouse.
Inside, the scene was apocalyptic.
Furniture was overturned, glass was shattered everywhere, and in the center of the room, Victor Vance stood holding a heavy detonator remote in one hand while his other hand gripped Clara by the hair, forcing her to her knees.
Clara was bruised, bleeding from her temple, and sobbing hysterically.
"Ah, the prodigal son returns!" Victor laughed maniacally, his eyes wild and bloodshot as he saw Julian step through the smoke. "And look who else followed! Come in, Julian! Welcome to the family reunion!"
"Let her go, Victor," Julian commanded, his voice cold and steady as he kept his hands visible, slowly advancing into the room. "The police are downstairs. The building is surrounded. You have nowhere to run."
"Run? Who wants to run?" Victor sneered, pressing the barrel of a pistol against Clara’s temple. "I built this empire with blood and deception. If I can't keep it, nobody will. Not me, not Clara, and certainly not the brat she gave away thirty years ago!"
"Victor, stop!"
Elena stepped through the broken doorway, her voice ringing out clearly over the crackle of the flames. She walked into the room, unphased by the heat, her eyes locked dead on the man who had fathered her by blood, yet terrorized her by choice.
Victor’s eyes widened as he looked at her. "Ah... my true daughter. The brilliant CEO. You look just like your mother when she thought she could outsmart me."
"You aren't a mastermind, Victor," Elena said, her voice dripping with ice as she took another step forward. "You're just a coward who couldn't handle being outplayed by women you tried to control."
"Shut up!" Victor shrieked, his finger tightening on the trigger of the gun pressed against Clara’s head. "One move and I blow this entire tower into ash!"
"Do it," a new voice echoed from the shadows.

Arthur Sterling stepped out from behind the smoke, his gun leveled directly at Victor’s chest with deadly precision.
"Drop the detonator, Victor," Arthur said calmly. "Your game is over."
