Chapter 2 - The Truth in Digital Ink

The private suite erupted into a chaotic flurry of motion as a team of trauma doctors and nurses swarmed the room, pushing a gurney. Marcus refused to leave Khloe’s side, holding her hand with a crushing grip as the medical staff carefully lifted her onto the mattress.

"Placental abruption is a primary concern," the lead obstetrician whispered frantically to his team, checking Khloe's vitals. "We need an immediate ultrasound and fetal monitoring. Prep Operating Room 3 just in case we need to perform an emergency vertical C-section. She’s only twenty-eight weeks along."

As they wheeled Khloe out, her eyes remained locked onto Marcus’s, silent tears tracking down her pale cheeks. "Stay with me," she whispered.

"Always," Marcus swore, kissing her sweaty forehead before turning his gaze back to the room. The warmth in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a cold, calculating void as he faced Isabella and Thomas.

Isabella tried to smooth down her crimson gown, forcing a look of aristocratic indignation onto her face. "Dr. Vance, I demand to be let out. This is a gross violation of my rights. My father’s lawyers will have this hospital tied up in litigation for a decade if you keep me here against my will."

Thomas Vance walked over to the center of the room, stepping right over the broken crystal. He pulled a sleek, military-grade tablet from his jacket pocket and tapped the screen twice.

"You’re welcome to call your father’s lawyers, Isabella," Thomas said calmly. "But I suggest you tell them to prep a defense for attempted murder, aggravated assault of a pregnant woman, and corporate espionage."

He turned the tablet screen toward Isabella and Marcus.

The high-definition security footage played in crystal-clear quality. Because this was the ultra-VIP executive medical suite, designated for foreign dignitaries and billionaires, the security measures were absolute. A hidden, high-frequency camera pinhole in the central chandelier had captured every single second of the interaction from a perfect, unobstructed bird's-eye view.

On the screen, there was no ambiguity. Marcus watched in absolute horror and soaring rage as the video showed Isabella lunging at Khloe, shoving her violently into the marble table, and then, with terrifying deliberation, driving her stiletto heel directly into Khloe's pregnant side while she lay defenseless on the floor.

Isabella’s face drained of color until she looked identical to the white marble beneath her feet. Her lips parted, but no sound came out. The flawless, carefully constructed web of lies she had spent weeks spinning around Marcus vanished in less than ten seconds of digital playback.

"My security team has already uploaded this footage to an off-site, un-hackable cloud server," Thomas said, his voice dropping into a hard, protective growl. "A copy has already been sent to the District Attorney’s private email, and another to the director of the FBI’s regional field office. You didn't just commit a crime, Isabella. You did it inside my hospital, to my niece."

Marcus walked over to Isabella slowly. Every step he took felt like the countdown to an execution. The aura of the elegant billionaire philanthropist had completely burned away, leaving behind a ruthless predator whose territory had been violated.

"For months, you whispered in my ear," Marcus said, his voice so quiet it was barely a whisper, yet it vibrated with a terrifying energy. "You told me Khloe was looking for a payout. You told me she didn't care about the Thorne legacy. You made sure you were at every charity board meeting, every corporate dinner, trying to turn me against the woman who built my life with me."

"Marcus... please," Isabella whimpered, her hands trembling as she backed into the wall. "It was... it was out of love. She doesn't deserve you! She’s a nobody from a middle-class family! I could give you the global alliance with the Rossi ports! We were meant to rule this city together!"

"You aren't going to rule anything, Isabella," Marcus said, turning his back on her as if she were nothing more than a piece of trash on the street. "Thomas, keep her in custody until the police arrive. I’m going to my wife."
