Chapter 10: The Loudest Love

One year later.

The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the rolling lawns of the magnificent Carbone estate in Florence. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming lemon trees and the joyful, bubbly sounds of a child’s laughter.

Lily was running through the grass, chasing her white puppy, her face radiant with pure, unburdened happiness. She was ten now, her movements confident, her eyes shining with the absolute security of a child who knew she was profoundly loved.

On the terrace overlooking the lake, Hannah sat at a beautifully set table, reviewing the architectural blueprints for a second international school, this one to be built in London—right down the street from the orphanage where Lily had once been abandoned. The cycle of pain was officially complete; they were transforming the site of old sorrow into a beacon of future hope.

Strong, warm arms wrapped around Hannah’s waist from behind, and the familiar scent of expensive cologne and leather washed over her. Hannah smiled, leaning back against Matteo’s broad chest.

"You're working too hard, mia cara," Matteo murmured softly, kissing the side of her neck. The dangerous, terrifying syndicate boss was entirely gone, replaced by a man filled with a profound, unshakeable peace.

"I want everything to be perfect for the grand opening next month," Hannah replied, turning in his embrace to face him. Hanging around her neck was still the silver pendant, but it had been cleaned and polished, a symbol of honor rather than a deadly secret.

The war was completely over. Elena Vance and Viktor Russo had been sentenced to twenty-five years in a maximum-security Italian prison for kidnapping, extortion, and organized criminal activity. The courts had permanently stripped Elena of any biological claims, issuing an absolute, un-appealable adoption decree to Matteo and Hannah.

The public narrative had completely shifted. Matteo was no longer viewed as a syndicate tycoon, but as a legendary philanthropist who had cleaned his family’s legacy with the pure water of truth and charity.

"Papa! Hannah! Look!"

Lily ran up the terrace steps, her fingers flying with elegant, confident speed as she signed to both of them: The puppy learned how to fetch my ballet shoes! Look!

The white puppy came skidding up the stone steps, proudly carrying a pink satin ballet shoe in its mouth.

Hannah and Matteo both laughed. Matteo knelt down, catching his daughter in one arm, while his other hand reached out to pull Hannah into the embrace.

Fifteen years ago, a brave father had hidden a secret to save a kingdom. One year ago, a lonely waitress had stepped forward to protect a frightened child. And now, as the sun began to set over the peaceful Italian waters, Hannah looked at the beautiful family she had found in the heart of danger.

Matteo slipped his hand into hers, his fingers interlocking perfectly with hers, while Lily wrapped her small arms around both their necks. The silence of the past was gone forever, replaced by a love so loud it would echo for the rest of their lives.
