Chapter 5 - The Siege of Brooklyn

The Brooklyn shipyard was a hellscape of twisted metal, roaring flames, and dark smoke billowing into the night sky. Fire sirens wailed in the distance, but inside the private shipping zone, automatic gunfire echoed between the stacks of steel containers.
Alessandro moved through the smoke like a grim reaper, flanked by Matteo and twelve of his most lethal enforcers.
He moved with terrifying efficiency, dropping Moretti mercenaries before they could even locate his position. The rage he had suppressed for years—the memory of his brother, his niece, and now the threat to Elena and Mia—fueled every single shot.
Inside a ruined warehouse at the end of the pier, Victor Moretti sat pinned behind an overturned forklift, bleeding from a shoulder wound, reloading his weapon with trembling hands.
The front doors were kicked open. Alessandro stepped through the smoke, his black coat billowy behind him, a heavy pistol in his hand.
"Alessandro!" Victor screamed, aiming his gun through the gap in the machinery. "You think you win?! My uncle already sent five teams to your penthouse! While you're playing soldier here, your little maid and her bastard are being dragged out of your bed!"
Alessandro didn't flinch. He didn't even slow his pace.
"You're lying, Victor," Alessandro said softly, stepping around the forklift. "Because I knew your uncle would try a decoy attack."
Victor blinked in confusion. "What?"
"I didn't leave my penthouse unguarded," Alessandro said, pointing his pistol directly at Victor’s forehead. "I left forty men inside the building, backed by federal marshals who have been waiting to arrest your uncle for five years."
Victor’s jaw dropped in horror. "You... you tipped off the feds?!"
"I don't play street games anymore, Victor," Alessandro said coldly. "I protect my family."
A single shot echoed through the burning warehouse.
Ten minutes later, Alessandro stepped out into the rainy night, pulling his phone from his pocket. He dialed Matteo, who was coordinating the perimeter security.
"Is the building clear?" Alessandro asked, his heart beating fast for the first time all night.
"Boss!" Matteo’s voice came through, filled with relief. "The Moretti team tried to breach the lobby five minutes ago. We boxed them in with the federal agents. Don Carmine Moretti was arrested at his home ten minutes ago. It's over. The Morettis are completely wiped out."

Alessandro let out a long breath, watching his breath mist in the cold air. "Is Elena safe?"
"She’s waiting for you on the balcony, boss. She hasn't slept a wink."
