Chapter 6 - The New Family

One year later.
The summer sun shone brightly over St. Patrick’s Cathedral in downtown Manhattan.
The streets outside were lined with polished black cars, but inside the grand cathedral, the atmosphere was joyous, intimate, and filled with blooming white roses.
Gabriel Moretti stood at the front of the altar wearing an impeccably tailored black tuxedo. Beside him stood his head of security, Marco, serving as his best man.
The pipe organ began to play a soft, beautiful rendition of Canon in D.
Walking down the aisle together, holding tiny baskets of pink rose petals, were three-year-old Sophia and Lily.
Lily wore a beautiful white lace flower-girl dress. She walked down the long carpeted aisle with perfect, graceful strides, her hand holding her sister’s, a radiant, proud smile lighting up her little face. There was no limp, no pain, and no fear left—only the vibrant energy of a healthy, happy child.
And behind them came Emma.
She looked breathtakingly gorgeous in an elegant, off-white satin gown with a long lace train. Her dark blonde hair was styled in soft waves adorned with pearls, and her warm brown eyes shone with happy tears as she walked toward Gabriel.
Gabriel watched her approach, his chest rising and falling with deep, profound gratitude.
When Emma reached the altar, Gabriel took both of her hands in his, looking into her eyes as the priest stood before them.
"We are gathered here today," the priest declared, "to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony—a union built on courage, devotion, and an unbreakable love that healed a family."
They exchanged vows that brought tears to the eyes of everyone in attendance.
"By the power vested in me," the priest smiled broadly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"
Gabriel pulled Emma into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, while the entire cathedral erupted into loud, joyful cheers and applause.
Sophia and Lily ran up the altar steps, wrapping their arms around Gabriel and Emma’s legs, laughing brightly.
Gabriel scooped both of his daughters up into his arms, while Emma wrapped her arm around his waist, leaning her head against his shoulder.
Together, the four of them walked back down the aisle, stepping out of the cathedral into the warm, brilliant New York sunshine.

Gabriel looked down at his beautiful wife and his two thriving daughters, knowing with absolute certainty that the coldest house in New York had finally become the warmest home in the world.
