Chapter 3 - The Anatomy of a Coup

"Let us review the timeline of events," Viktor announced, stepping closer to the table and laying out the first document under the chandelier's brilliant glow. "At 2:00 PM today, while the rest of the family was out in the garden preparing the barbecue, Jessica accessed Mark’s home office workstation. Using a keylogger installed on his keyboard—which our cybersecurity team flagged three days ago—she extracted the master administrative credentials for Sterling Enterprises."
Jessica’s face turned the color of curdled milk. "That's... that's a lie! Prove it!"
"We have the digital footprint, Mrs. Sterling," Viktor continued smoothly, pulling out a second sheet containing lines of server logs and IP addresses. "Every keystroke was recorded. But more importantly, you made a critical error in your legal assumptions. You assumed that because Arthur retired from active CEO duties five years ago, his personal credit cards, his holdings, and his estate were tied to Mark’s corporate ledger."
He tapped a finger on the paper. "They are not. Arthur Sterling owns the parent holding company outright. Mark is merely a salaried executive Vice President who serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors—a board which, I might remind you, consists solely of Arthur and two retired federal judges."
Mark buried his face in his hands, letting out a long, ragged groan. "I told you not to do it, Jessica. I told you we should wait until the inheritance paperwork cleared in five years. But you wouldn't listen!"

"Shut up, Mark! Shut up!" Jessica shrieked, panic finally piercing through her arrogant facade. She lunged toward the table, pointing a shaking finger at Viktor. "You're lying! He signed the power of attorney! I have the digital signature right here on my tablet!"
"Ah, the power of attorney," Viktor said, raising a single finger. "Let us talk about that document, and why your little coup tonight wasn't just a corporate overreach—it was a federal felony."
