Chapter 5 - Blood on the Glass"Sir! Perimeter breach on the private elevator!" A panicked voice crackled through the intercom on the wall. "Sector four is compromised! He bypassed the biometric locks!"

Damien’s expression shifted instantly from intense seduction to cold, lethal fury. The transformation was terrifying to witness. In a fraction of a second, the billionaire philanthropist vanished, replaced by the ruthless mafia boss who ruled the underworld with an iron fist.

"Stay here," Damien ordered Briar, his hand darting inside his tailored jacket to pull out a sleek, suppressed Glock 9mm with practiced ease.

"Who... who is it?" Briar choked out, trembling as Goliath pressed his massive body protectively against her legs.

"Trash that should have stayed in the garbage," Damien muttered darkly, walking toward the private foyer.

Briar couldn't just stand there. Ignoring Damien's command, she crept cautiously down the hallway, keeping close to the wall with Goliath right at her heels. Peering around the corner into the expansive, sunlit foyer, her heart stopped beating.

There, standing in the middle of the shattered glass of the private elevator doors, was Corbin.

He looked unhinged. His hair was messy, his eyes bloodshot, and in his right hand, he clutched a heavy, rusted iron pipe. Two of Damien’s elite guards were already on the floor, unconscious or worse.

"Briar! You little bitch!" Corbin shrieked, his voice echoing off the luxury marble floors. "You think you can run away from me? You think a fancy sugar daddy can hide you from me?"

Damien stood casually ten feet away, holding his pistol pointed lazily at the floor, looking at Corbin the way a scientist looks at a particularly disgusting insect.

"Drop the pipe," Damien said softly. "You have three seconds to draw your last breath of free air."

Corbin laughed maniacally, raising the iron pipe. "I’m going to cave her skull in, and then I’m going to—"

He never finished the sentence.

With a roar that shook the penthouse windows, Goliath lunged past Damien like a dark freight train. Before Corbin could even blink, a hundred and fifty pounds of furious muscle slammed into him, tackling him backward through the floor-to-ceiling glass wall.

The sound of shattering safety glass echoed like a bomb going off, followed by a sickening crunch.
