Chapter 10 - The Unexpected Eclipse (The Finale)Six months later.

The sun set over a breathtaking cliffside villa overlooking the crystal-clear, azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea in southern Italy.
The air smelled of fresh sea salt, blooming bougainvillea, and rich espresso. There were no armed guards patrolling the hallways with assault rifles. No flashing sirens. No dark alleys.
On the sun-drenched marble terrace, a healthy, muscular Goliath lay stretching lazily in the warm evening sun, his coat shining like polished obsidian.
Inside the sprawling kitchen, Briar Lennox—now Briar Ashworth—hummed a soft tune as she pulled a tray of freshly baked pastries out of the oven. Her hair fell loosely over her shoulders, her face glowing with a vibrant, healthy radiance she had never possessed in Brooklyn.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, pulling her back against a warm, familiar chest. A soft kiss was planted gently on the crook of her neck.
"You're smiling," Damien murmured, resting his chin on her shoulder. He wore a simple linen shirt instead of his customary bulletproof black suit. He looked relaxed, powerful, and completely at peace.
"I was just thinking about how crazy our lives are," Briar laughed softly, turning around in his arms to wrap her own around his neck. "Six months ago, you kidnapped me from a rundown clinic because your dog wouldn't eat."
"And best decision I ever made," Damien smiled, his dark eyes sparkling with genuine warmth. "Though, technically, you kidnapped my heart first."
"Cheesy," Briar giggled, leaning up to kiss him deeply.
Suddenly, a sharp, urgent notification pinged from Damien’s encrypted tablet sitting on the kitchen counter.
Briar pulled back, raising an eyebrow playfully. "Trouble in paradise, Mr. Ashworth? Did the Italian mobsters come to collect rent?"
Damien glanced over at the tablet. The screen flashed a secure, classified update from his international intelligence network. The remaining capos of the New York syndicate, leaderless and terrified after Viktor’s demise and Damien’s calculated dismantling of their operations, had officially surrendered and dissolved their assets into a charitable foundation managed anonymously by... Briar’s old Brooklyn veterinary clinic.
Damien turned the screen off, sliding it away without a second glance.

"There is no New York," Damien whispered, pulling her flush against his body, his eyes locking onto hers with absolute, eternal devotion. "There is only this. Only us."
Outside, Goliath let out a soft, contented woof as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the Mediterranean sky in brilliant shades of gold and crimson—a final, breathtaking masterpiece for a girl from Brooklyn who finally found her home in the darkest heart of the world.
