Chapter 8 - The Miracle Match

In the adjoining surgical wing, fate was moving in mysterious and miraculous ways. An emergency trauma case had just been admitted—a young philanthropist who had carried an organ donor card and suffered fatal injuries in a sudden accident across town. Her blood type was an ultra-rare match with Owen Faulkner’s.
More importantly, before her passing, she had left strict instructions: her estate and her heart were to be donated to the St. Jude’s medical research fund, specifically designated for a patient in critical need.
Dr. Vance burst out of the surgical coordinator's office, clutching the medical file with shaking hands.
“Marcus! Get over here!” Dr. Vance shouted down the corridor. “We found a match! A donor heart just arrived! We’re prepping the OR right now!”
Marcus stared in disbelief, then scooped Hannah up in his arms, spinning her around. “Did you hear that, kiddo? He’s going to make it!”
Hannah wiped a stray tear from her cheek and smiled—a radiant, beautiful smile that melted away years of hardship.

The next twelve hours were a blur of flashing lights, surgical instruments, and silent prayers. Dr. Vance and his elite team performed the complex heart transplant procedure with meticulous precision. Every second ticked by like an eternity, but as the sun crested the horizon, painting the hospital windows in shades of gold and pink, Dr. Vance stepped out of the operating room with a tired, triumphant grin.
“The surgery was a complete success,” Dr. Vance announced. “His body is accepting the new heart. He’s going to live.”
