Chapter 9 - The Wedding in the Gardens

Three months later, the estate gardens were transformed into a paradise of white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and elegant silk canopies.

Friends, family, business partners, and federal officials who had helped us through the dark times gathered in the rows of white chairs, clapping warmly as string quartets played soft, joyful melodies.

I stood at the altar beneath an archway of white orchids, flanked by Viktor, who was dressed in a sharp tux, looking prouder than I had ever seen him.

Then, the music shifted to a grand, romantic march.

Walking down the aisle, holding small baskets of rose petals, were four-year-old Maisie and Rosie, wearing matching white flower-girl dresses, giggling as they tossed pink petals onto the white carpet.

And behind them came Elise.

She was breathtaking. Her white lace wedding gown flowed around her like liquid light, her veil trailing gently behind her as she walked down the aisle on the arm of a close family friend. Her smile was pure light, illuminating the entire garden.

When she reached the altar, I took her hand, leaning in to whisper, "You take my breath away."

"You don't look so bad yourself, Mr. Caruso," she winked playfully.

The priest spoke words of love, resilience, and second chances—words that resonated deeply in the hearts of everyone present.

"Do you, Julian Caruso, take Elise Vance to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

"I do," I said, looking straight into her eyes with my whole heart.

"And do you, Elise Vance, take Julian Caruso to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," she whispered, her voice filled with unshakeable love.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest declared with a warm smile. "You may kiss the bride."

I pulled Elise into my arms, dipping her slightly as I kissed her deeply. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and happy tears. Maisie and Rosie ran up to us, hugging our legs, squealing with pure delight as we pulled them up into our arms for a family embrace.
