Chapter 8 - The Exposure

Dr. Vance took the microphone, his voice echoing through the ballroom. "Ladies and gentlemen, before we begin our charity auction, we have a special presentation regarding the clinic's advanced funding initiatives. Please turn your attention to the main projection screens."
The lights dimmed, and the massive screens above the stage lit up.
Instead of a promotional video for the hospital, a massive, high-resolution scan of Mark’s forged medical file appeared on the screen, followed by the bank wire transfers showing the $120,000 moving directly from Claire’s account into the offshore shell company.
The ballroom erupted into a shocked, deafening murmur.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Vanessa shrieked, turning toward the tech booth, her face twisted in absolute horror. "Turn it off! Turn it off right now!"
But the screens changed again. This time, the audio from Eleanor’s nightstand recording blasted through the ballroom's state-of-the-art sound system. Mark’s voice, clear and disgusting, filled the room: "Claire thinks she’s a savior, but she’s just an ATM... we’re putting Mom in a state-run facility..."

Mark stumbled backward, his hands shaking violently as hundreds of his peers, colleagues, and city leaders stared at him with pure, unadulterated disgust. Toby stepped forward, his eyes burning with protective rage, standing between his mother and the man who had betrayed them.
"You're a monster, Dad," Toby said, his voice carrying a heavy, final weight.
