Chapter 10 - The Dawn of a New Dynasty

Three years later.
The spring air in Chicago was crisp and clean, carrying the scent of blooming cherry blossoms across the sprawling lawns of Duca Manor.
The estate had changed. The armed patrols were gone, replaced by quiet security systems and a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The underground vault had been sealed permanently, its dark secrets locked away forever to make room for a new chapter.
I stood on the grand marble balcony overlooking the front courtyard, wearing a light summer dress, holding a cup of tea in my hand.
Down on the lawn, six-year-old Emma was running across the grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy while her laughter echoed through the trees.
And walking right behind her, laughing as he tried to keep up with her boundless energy, was Lorenzo.
He didn't look like a ruthless syndicate boss anymore. He looked like a father—happy, grounded, and completely at peace.
Heavy footsteps sounded behind me on the balcony.
I turned around to see Lorenzo walking up, carrying a small velvet box in his hand. He stopped in front of me, his dark eyes filled with a quiet, fierce devotion that had only grown stronger with every passing year.
"What's this?" I asked, looking down at the box.
"An anniversary present," Lorenzo smiled softly. "Though technically, we've never officially celebrated our first date without someone getting shot or chased by hitmen."
He opened the velvet box. Inside rested a magnificent diamond ring, sparkling brightly in the afternoon sun. But etched into the inner band of the platinum was something far more precious:
A tiny, hand-carved star.
"I had the jeweler replicate the star from Sofia's old ring," Lorenzo whispered, sliding it onto my finger. "A reminder of how we found each other in the dark."
I smiled, slipping my arms around his neck as he pulled me close against his chest.
Down on the lawn, Emma stopped running, turned around, and pointed up at us with a bright, joyful grin.
"Mommy! Daddy!" she shouted, waving her little hands in the air. "Come play!"
Lorenzo kissed the top of my head, his arms holding me secure against the world.

"Come on, Evelyn," he whispered against my hair. "Our daughter is waiting."
We walked down the grand marble steps together, stepping out into the bright, unending light of a brand-new day.
