Chapter 4: The Miracle of Three

The next morning, the storm over Seattle cleared, leaving behind a brilliant, crisp blue sky that flooded my private suite with golden sunlight.
At exactly 10:14 AM, the room was filled with the most beautiful sound in the universe—the synchronized, high-pitched cries of three brand-new lives.
The delivery had been flawless, managed by the best neonatal surgeons in the country. I sat propped up against the pillows, my heart overflowing with an emotion so vast it made my previous life feel like a distant, faded dream.
In my arms lay Liam, the oldest, with a tuft of thick dark hair and a serious little brow. To my left, in a double bassinet beside the bed, lay Maya and Chloe—whom I immediately renamed Grace, refusing to let any piece of Nathan’s betrayal touch her life.
The heavy door to the suite opened quietly, and Lucian walked in. He had changed into a clean black sweater, his sleeves rolled up, carrying a massive bouquet of fresh white hydrangeas.
"May I?" he asked, stopping near the edge of the bed, his usual untouchable corporate aura entirely replaced by a gentle, almost reverent hesitation.
"Please," I smiled, blinking back tears of joy. "Come meet them, Lucian."
He walked over, setting the flowers on the table, and looked down at the three tiny bundles. For a man who controlled billions of dollars and dictated international trade lines, his hands were trembling as he leaned over to look at Liam’s face.
Liam’s tiny fist reached up, his minuscule fingers instinctively catching the edge of Lucian’s thumb.
Lucian froze, his breath hitching in his chest. A profound, emotional silence settled over the room as the billionaire industrialist looked down at the child, a single, solitary tear slipping down his rugged cheek.
"He has your mother’s eyes, Ava," Lucian whispered, his voice thick with an ancient affection. "He looks exactly like her."
May you like
"They are a new beginning, Lucian," I said quietly, reaching out to touch his arm. "For all of us. The Drake name will never be on their certificates. I am registering them under my maiden name—Bennett. But they are going to need a guardian. Someone to teach them how to be strong in a world that isn't always kind."
Lucian looked up from Liam, his silver eyes locking onto mine with an absolute, unyielding intensity. "I will spend every breath I have left ensuring they never know a single day of fear, Ava. I give you my word as a Blackwood."
