Chapter 6 - The Golden Dawn

Three months later, the spring sun was shining brilliantly across Omaha, casting warm, golden rays through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my newly restored penthouse office downtown.

The transition had been swift, merciless, and absolute.

Faced with federal indictments, mounting evidence of historical fraud, and the unassailable DNA proof of Leo’s direct lineage to the founding Prescott estate, Constance Prescott’s legal defense crumbled within weeks. Rather than facing a public trial that would expose decades of criminal corruption, Constance entered a plea agreement that stripped her of every cent, every property, and every corporate title she held. She was currently awaiting sentencing in a federal detention facility, while Damian faced up to fifteen years for securities fraud and conspiracy.

Caldwell-Prescott Enterprises was dissolved by federal order, its legitimate assets restructured into a new charitable trust—The Leo Foundation—dedicated to supporting single mothers and underprivileged families across the Midwest.

And me?

I wasn't the broken, exhausted woman cleaning office floors in the dead of winter anymore.

I was the majority shareholder, chairwoman, and chief executive officer of Apex-Prescott Holdings, sitting comfortably in a custom leather executive chair while my son—now three months old, chubby-cheeked, and wide-eyed—slept peacefully in a modern bassinet right beside my desk.

The heavy oak door of my office opened softly.

Dr. Richard Vance walked in, carrying a cup of hot coffee and smiling warmly as he looked down at Leo.

"How is the young CEO doing today?" Dr. Vance asked softly, setting the coffee cup on my desk.

"He's doing wonderful," I smiled, leaning back in my chair and looking out at the sweeping view of the city skyline. "Sleeping through the night mostly, and keeping me very busy."

"You know, Amelia, when I first delivered him in that snowstorm, I prayed that justice would find you," Dr. Vance said, his eyes reflecting genuine admiration. "I never imagined you would completely dismantle an empire in ninety days."

"Justice isn't something that just happens, Dr. Vance," I said, resting my hand gently against Leo’s soft blanket. "You have to build it brick by brick, document by document, and never let anyone convince you that you're powerless."

My phone chimed softly on the desk. I glanced down at the screen. It was a notification from the corporate restructuring team confirming that the final asset transfers from the old Prescott trust had been officially deposited into Leo’s college and educational fund.

Financial security. Absolute independence. A future built entirely on truth, strength, and unconditional love.

I picked up my coffee cup, took a warm sip, and looked down at my son.

His tiny hand twitched in his sleep, his fingers curling into a miniature fist as if ready to take on the world.

"We made it, sweet boy," I whispered softly, a bright, triumphant smile spreading across my face. "We're home."
