Chapter 9 - The Unspoken Confession"Oliver! Sophie! Arya!" Daniel shouted, his voice echoing through the foyer.

When he saw them sitting safe and unharmed on the foyer rug, Daniel dropped his briefcase and sprinted across the room, collapsing onto the floor and wrapping his arms around all three of them at once. He pulled them so close Arya could feel the rapid, wild beating of his heart against her shoulder.
"I saw the news on the way back from the police station," Daniel sobbed openly, burying his face in Oliver’s hair, then turning to press a fierce kiss to Sophie’s forehead. "The police told me what you did, Arya. You found the cyber-evidence. You saved my family. You saved my life."
Oliver pulled back and signed happily to his father: Arya beat the bad yellow-hair lady! She is super girl!
Daniel let out a choked laugh through his tears, looking over at Arya. "She really is, buddy. She really is."
For the rest of the evening, the mansion was filled with an overwhelming sense of victory and emotional relief. Julian Thorne and Victoria Vance were held without bail, facing decades in federal prison for their corporate conspiracy. The press, realizing how wildly wrong they had been, completely flipped their narrative, praising Daniel Reed as a devoted father and framing Arya Santos as a hero.
Late that night, after the children had finally fallen into a deep, peaceful sleep, Daniel and Arya stood on the second-floor balcony, looking out over the illuminated gardens. The rain had cleared, leaving behind a crisp, starry night sky.
Daniel stood close beside Arya, a warm glass of red wine in his hand, though he hadn't taken a single sip. His eyes kept wandering away from the stars to look at the profile of the woman beside him.
"You could have taken Victoria’s money," Daniel said softly, breaking the quiet melody of the night breeze. "Five million pounds is a life-changing amount of money, Arya. You could have walked away from all this madness and never worked another day in your life."
Arya turned her face to look at him. The moonlight caught the subtle highlights of her dark hair, making her eyes shine like pools of liquid obsidian.
"Money can't buy what I have in this house, Daniel," Arya said softly. "I lost my brother, Leo, seven years ago. When he died, a piece of my heart went silent forever. I thought I would never feel that kind of family connection again. But when I saw Oliver and Sophie in that restaurant... and when I saw you fighting for them..." Arya hesitated, a blush rising to her cheeks. "I realized that my heart wasn't silent anymore."
Daniel set his wine glass down on the stone balustrade. He stepped closer to her, closing the small distance until their bodies were mere inches apart.
"Arya," Daniel whispered, his voice trembling with an emotion so deep it made her breath hitch. He raised his hands between them.
Slowly, gracefully, Daniel began to sign to her. He didn't use speech. He used the language she had given back to his home.
You... brought... light... to... my... darkness, Daniel signed, his eyes holding hers with intense passion. You... saved... my... children. But... you... also... saved... me.
Then, Daniel brought his hands together, placing his palm over his own heart, and signed: I... love... you.
Arya’s heart pounded violently against her ribs. Tears gathered in her eyes, sparkling under the starlight.
Daniel reached out, his warm, large hand gently cupping her jaw, his thumb tracing her cheekbone to wipe away a stray tear.
"I love you, Arya," Daniel said aloud, his voice dropping into a thick, raw whisper. "Not as the nanny. Not as the BSL teacher. As the woman who rebuilt my soul."
Arya smiled through her tears, leaning into his touch. "I love you too, Daniel," she whispered.
Daniel leaned down and pressed his lips against hers.
The kiss was sweet, tender, and desperate with months of unspoken longing. Arya wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, feeling the strength and warmth of the man who had fought through hell to reclaim his home. When they finally pulled apart, breathing heavily, Daniel rested his forehead against hers, a beautiful, radiant smile on his face.
Suddenly, a tiny giggle echoed from the dark doorway of the balcony.
Daniel and Arya snapped their heads around.
Oliver and Sophie were standing in their pajamas, holding their stuffed animals, spying on them through the glass doors.
Oliver raised his hands and signed rapidly to Sophie: Dad kissed Arya! Gross!

Sophie signed back with a big grin: Not gross! I want Arya to be Mom!
Daniel and Arya burst into joyous laughter. Daniel reached down, picking up both twins in his massive arms, and pulled Arya into the warm circle of their embrace under the starry sky.
