Chapter 10 - A New Legacy

Back at the Romano estate, the spring flowers were beginning to bloom across the sprawling courtyards. The dark cloud of betrayal had been swept away, leaving behind an empire stronger, more disciplined, and more unified than ever before.
Isabella Vance and Dante Moretti were now footnotes in judicial history—their conspiracy dismantled, their assets seized, and their names relegated to the dark archives of syndicate lore.
Alessandro stood on the grand stone balcony of his private study, looking out over the manicured lawns and the iron gates that secured his domain. He held a crystal glass of aged bourbon in his hand, the amber liquid catching the afternoon sunlight.
The door to the study opened quietly, and Marco stepped inside, holding a thick leather-bound dossier.
"Boss," Marco said, standing at attention. "The final transition of the eastern shipping lanes is complete. The council has officially ratified your new charter. No dissenters remaining."
"Good," Alessandro said without turning around. "Ensure that the security protocols we implemented after the incident are made permanent. No visitors without triple clearance. No exceptions."
"Already done, sir," Marco nodded. Then, a slight, rare smile touched his lips. "By the way, Clara called from the Swiss chalet this morning. Lily started her new school. She's top of her class in drawing and story-telling."
Alessandro turned around, a subtle, satisfied smile crossing his features. "Good. Make sure her tuition and trust fund are fully secured through university. Privately, and without drawing attention."
"Consider it done, boss," Marco replied respectfully, turning to leave the room.
Alessandro walked back to his desk, picking up a fresh document that required his signature. As he signed his name in bold, sweeping ink across the paper, he looked up at the portrait of his father hanging on the wood-paneled wall—the man who had built the Romano dynasty from the ground up.
His father had always taught him that power was maintained through strength, vision, and iron discipline. But standing there in the quiet sunlight of his fortress, Alessandro finally understood a deeper, more enduring truth.

An empire was not built on fear, and it was not preserved by walls of stone or armed guards. It was preserved by truth, by absolute loyalty, and by the courage of those who dared to speak when everyone else chose to remain silent.
The Romano legacy was safe. And it would endure for generations to come.
