Chapter 1 - The Bloodstained Veil

The penthouse suite on the 85th floor of the Manhattan skyline was meant to be a sanctuary of high society, a glittering palace celebrating the union of the city’s two most powerful dynasties. Instead, it smelled of iron, expensive perfume, and fear.
Clara stood shaking in the middle of the room, her exquisite French lace wedding gown ruined by dark, jagged splatters of crimson across her back and shoulders. She was sobbing uncontrollably, her delicate hands clutching at her mother, Eleanor Vance.
"You're safe now, baby," Eleanor whispered, her voice a mix of trembling tenderness and fierce protectiveness as she embraced her daughter tightly, ignoring the fresh blood staining her emerald silk dress.
Across the room stood Julian Sterling, the groom. His tuxedo was immaculate, a white rose pinned to his lapel, but his face was drained of all color. His eyes were wide with a mix of horror, confusion, and something far more sinister—dread.
Standing near the floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the city lights was Arthur Vance, Clara’s father and the ruthless CEO of Vance Global. His blue shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, his eyes cold as ice. He looked at his terrified daughter, then turned his gaze toward Julian.
"Who did this?" Arthur asked, his voice low, steady, and utterly deadly.
Clara could barely speak, her chest heaving with every sob. "They... they said if I told anyone... they’d kill Julian..."
"They won't survive the sunrise," Arthur growled, turning on his heel and striding toward the exit.
As Arthur left the room to activate his shadow network, Julian stepped forward, his hands trembling as he reached toward Clara. "Clara... my God, what happened out there? Who attacked you?"
Clara looked up at her new husband. But through her tears, a cold realization began to settle in her stomach. The attack had happened in the VIP garden lounge—a private area only accessible with a master key card. And the man who had cornered her, whispering threats against the Vance family, had been wearing a crest she recognized: the Sterling family seal.

"Julian," Clara gasped, pulling back from his touch. "Why did the attacker have your father’s signet ring?"
The silence that followed was suffocating. Eleanor’s eyes widened, shifting instantly from comforting mother to protective predator. Outside the window, a dark storm began to roll over New York City, signaling that the fairy-tale wedding had just turned into a war for survival.
