Chapter 6 - The Legacy of Love

One year later.

The morning sun over the Hamptons washed over a stunning oceanfront estate, painting the rolling waves in shades of brilliant gold and soft turquoise. The air was crisp, filled with the fresh, salty scent of the Atlantic Ocean and the distant cries of seagulls.

There were no iron gates here. No armed guards standing on the lawn. Only a quiet, sprawling wooden villa surrounded by blooming white hydrangeas and green grass.

On the wide wooden patio overlooking the beach, a large round table was set for a festive breakfast—stacked with fresh fruit, warm pastries, orange juice, and a massive chocolate birthday cake adorned with four glowing candles.

Four-year-old Mia sat at the head of the table, wearing a beautiful yellow princess dress, a golden paper crown resting atop her curly brown hair. She was giggling hysterically as Nico—dressed not in a tactical vest, but in a remarkably relaxed Hawaiian shirt—was awkwardly trying to make a balloon animal for her.

"I think it's a dog, Mia," Nico grunted, twisting a long red balloon until it popped with a loud SNAP.

Mia burst into a fit of adorable, high-pitched laughter, clapping her small hands together. "Uncle Nico! You broke it again!"

"I’m security, kiddo, not an artist," Nico chuckled, tossing the popped balloon into a tray and shaking his head with a warm grin.

A few feet away near the balcony railings, Elena stood watching them, a peaceful, radiant smile resting on her face.

She wore a long, elegant white linen dress, her dark hair flowing softly in the ocean breeze. She looked healthy, beautiful, and utterly devoid of the shadows that had once plagued her life. The Valenti family was no more—their leadership imprisoned or dissolved, their influence completely wiped clean from the city by Lorenzo’s relentless legal and financial restructuring over the past twelve months.

A pair of strong, warm arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.

Elena leaned back against Lorenzo’s broad chest, feeling his steady, powerful heartbeat beneath his light blue linen shirt. Lorenzo rested his chin gently on her shoulder, his hands resting over her stomach, where a faint, tiny bump was just beginning to show beneath her dress.

"Is the princess enjoying her fourth birthday?" Lorenzo asked softly, his warm breath tickling her ear.

"She’s been awake since five in the morning asking if she can open her presents," Elena smiled, turning slightly in his arms to look up into his striking blue-gray eyes.

Lorenzo looked down at her with an affection so deep, so profound, it made her breath catch even after a year of marriage.

The terrifying Don of Manhattan had transformed. He still ran his legal shipping logistics empire with an iron grip, but his world no longer revolved around fear, shadows, and solitary power. His world revolved around the quiet house on the beach, the little girl running across the lawn, and the woman who had saved his soul.

"And how is the mother of the princess feeling?" Lorenzo asked, gently resting his hand over her stomach.

"The mother is completely, wonderfully happy," Elena whispered, placing her hand over his. "Although she still can't believe you bought Mia a real pony."

Lorenzo smirked—that rare, charming smile reserved only for her. "Every four-year-old princess needs a pony, Elena. It’s a legal requirement in the Moretti household."

"Daddy! Mommy!" Mia’s loud, sweet voice called out from the table. "Come blow out the candles with me! Hurry!"

Lorenzo looked at Elena, his dark eyes shining with an indescribable warmth. He reached down, taking her hand into his, intertwining their fingers securely.

"Let's go, my love," Lorenzo said softly. "Our daughter is waiting."

They walked together toward the sunlit table, where laughter, warmth, and an endless future awaited them.

The maid’s toddler had once walked into a stone cold library with bare feet, calling a ruthless Don her daddy. And in doing so, she hadn't just broken a secret—she had unlocked a home, healed a broken man, and built a family that no power on earth could ever tear apart.
