Chapter 4 - The Turning of the Tide

The press room at Vale Headquarters was packed to maximum capacity. Cameras flashed relentlessly, creating a blinding wall of light.
Margaret stood backstage, her hands knotted together. She was wearing a simple, elegant dark blue dress that Grant’s team had rushed to procure for her. She felt entirely out of place, listening to the roar of reporters outside.
"Are you ready?"
She turned to see Dorian standing beside her. In his dark gray bespoke suit, he looked every bit the ruthless billionaire the world knew him to be. But when he looked at her, his eyes softened.
"I'm terrified," she admitted honestly.
He extended his hand to her. "Hold onto me. I won't let go."
Taking a deep breath, Margaret placed her hand in his. Together, they walked out onto the stage. The flashbulbs went into a frenzy. Photographers yelled questions, their voices blending into a chaotic din. Dorian led her to the podium, keeping her close to his side.
He lowered the microphone. The room gradually fell silent, waiting for the statement.
"Yesterday," Dorian began, his voice echoing with absolute authority, "a statement was released by Celeste Arden accusing Margaret Bell of blackmail and fraud. I am here today to state, unequivocally, that Miss Arden’s words are malicious, defamatory, and completely false."
A murmur ran through the press corps.
"Twenty-eight years ago," Dorian continued, his voice tightening with emotion, "my family was on the brink of starvation and homelessness. We had nothing. No one would help us. But a woman named Elena Bell stepped in. She secretly paid our debts, fed us, and worked without pay so I could get an education. She asked for nothing in return."
Dorian picked up the original yellowed letter, holding it up for the cameras. "This is not a blackmail note. This is a letter from a dying mother, reminding me of the debt of honor I owe to her family. Margaret Bell did not blackmail me. She humbled me. She reminded me of who I am."
The reporters began shouting questions, but Dorian raised a hand, silencing them instantly.
"Furthermore," Dorian said, his eyes turning ice-cold, "an investigation into Arden Enterprises over the last twelve hours has revealed massive regulatory fraud and tax evasion, which my firm has officially reported to the federal authorities this morning. Effective immediately, Vale Holdings has severed all ties with the Arden family, liquidated our joint ventures, and initiated a fifty-million-dollar defamation lawsuit against Celeste Arden personally."

The room erupted. Reporters were on their feet, shouting into their phones. The Ardens weren't just being dumped; they were being annihilated.
Dorian didn't wait for the chaos to settle. He turned to Margaret, offered his arm, and guided her off the stage, leaving the media storm behind them.
