Chapter 6 - The Queen of the Moretti Family

The war for the Moretti empire ended not with a long siege, but with twenty minutes of absolute, uncompromising retribution.
When Don Vincente Romano breached the top floor of the estate with twelve heavily armed mercenaries, he expected to find a soft man weakened by a maid and a toddler. Instead, he walked straight into a slaughterhouse.
Aleandro Moretti did not fight like a man protecting assets; he fought like a father protecting his blood. Within fifteen minutes, the mercenaries were neutralized, and Vincente Romano found himself on his knees in the grand foyer, staring up at the barrel of Aleandro’s gun.
"You took my niece's life!" Vincente spat, bleeding from his shoulder.
"Your niece took her own life when she brought poison to my table," Aleandro replied, his voice devoid of any human warmth. "And you made your final mistake when you brought weapons near my daughter."
A single gunshot echoed through the high ceilings of the foyer.
By midnight, the estate was cleared. The rogue elements of the Romano faction were dismantled overnight, their assets absorbed into the Moretti network. The captains who had questioned Aleandro’s choice of a bride stood in the marble hallway, their heads bowed low in absolute submission, finally realizing that their Don had not grown soft—he had become completely invincible.
Three months later.
The sun shone brightly over the private coastal estate in Newport, Rhode Island. Blue waves crashed softly against the high cliffs, and white sails glided across the horizon.
The grand lawn was covered in white silk tents, glowing under thousands of fairy lights. Four hundred guests—the most powerful figures in North America—sat in rows of golden chairs facing an altar made of white orchids and roses.
The orchestra began to play a gentle, rolling melody.
At the front of the altar stood Aleandro Moretti.
He wore a custom black tuxedo, looking taller and more formidable than ever. But as he looked down the long white aisle, his dark eyes were filled with unshakeable warmth.
Beside him stood three-year-old Emma, wearing a tiny, custom-made white lace flower-girl dress with shiny silver shoes. She held a basket of pink rose petals, her slate-grey eyes sparkling with delight as she looked up at her father.
Then, the music swelled.
Sophia stepped onto the carpet.
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in an off-the-shoulder gown of delicate ivory lace, her long brown hair styled in soft waves adorned with small diamond pins. She carried no heavy jewelry, no inherited duchess diamonds—only the quiet, radiant dignity of a woman who had survived the dark and conquered the light.
She walked down the aisle slowly, her eyes locked entirely on Aleandro.
When she reached the altar, Aleandro stepped forward, taking her hand into his. His large, warm fingers wrapped around hers, steady and protective.
"You look beautiful," Aleandro whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
"You look handsome, Daddy!" Emma piped up from beside them, causing the entire audience of dangerous, powerful people to break into soft, warm laughter.
The priest began the ceremony, his words echoing softly across the ocean breeze:
"We are gathered here today to unite two souls in the sacred bond of matrimony—a union built not on power, nor on status, but on endurance, truth, and love..."
When it came time for the vows, Aleandro pulled a small silver band from his pocket. He slid it onto Sophia’s finger, looking deep into her eyes.
"Four years ago, you saved my life in the dark," Aleandro said softly, his voice carrying across the lawn. "I spent years thinking I was born to rule an empire of shadows. But you showed me that the greatest power in this world is protecting the people you love. I give you my life, my name, and my heart. Forever."
Sophia smiled, tears of joy sparkling on her eyelashes as she slid a matching gold ring onto his finger.
"I spent years running from the world, Aleandro," Sophia whispered back. "I was afraid of the dark. But with you, I learned that home isn't a place—it's the man who stands between my daughter and the storm. I love you."
"By the power vested in me," the priest declared, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"
Aleandro pulled Sophia into his arms, kissing her deeply as the entire crowd erupted into wild applause and cheers.
When they separated, Emma tugged impatiently on her mother's dress.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Emma giggled. "The music is playing! Can I dance now?"
Aleandro laughed—a loud, free sound that swept across the ocean breeze. He leaned down, scooping Emma up into his left arm, while wrapping his right arm tightly around Sophia’s waist.
Together, the three of them stepped onto the private marble dance floor built near the cliff's edge.
The orchestra began to play a soft, beautiful waltz.

The barefoot girl who had once danced alone near the kitchen doors of a cold mansion was barefoot no longer. She wore silver shoes, her small hands held tightly by the mother who had suffered for her and the father who ruled the world for her.
Under the bright afternoon sun, surrounded by the ocean and the sky, Emma laughed, spinning in her father's arms as the three of them danced into their brand-new, unbroken life.
