Chapter 6 - A New Beginning

Six months after the trial, the atmosphere in Mexico City was festive. The summer breeze was warm, and at a beautiful private estate in the hills of Tepoztlán, surrounded by lush green mountains and ancient trees, a massive celebration was taking place.
But this was not a party built on lies, pride, or stolen money.
The estate belonged to Vanguardia Inmobiliaria, and today, Sofía was celebrating the tenth anniversary of her company, alongside the launch of a new philanthropic foundation she had created: The Table for All Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing legal aid, housing, and financial education to women and children escaping domestic abuse and financial control.
The venue was stunningly decorated with beautiful local wildflowers, warm fairy lights, and elegant wooden tables. There were no white-gloved waiters treating people like elites; instead, there was a beautiful buffet filled with traditional Mexican cuisine, open to all the employees, their families, and the women supported by the foundation.
Sofía stood on the main stage, wearing a simple but breathtaking white dress. She looked radiant, her eyes glowing with peace and fulfillment. Beside her stood her mother, who smiled with deep pride, holding a bouquet of flowers.
Sofía took the microphone, looking out at the hundreds of smiling faces in the audience.
"Ten years ago, I started this company in a tiny, rented room with nothing but a broken laptop and a dream," Sofía spoke into the microphone, her voice echoing with strength and clarity. "For a long time, I believed that my success had to be hidden. I believed that to keep the peace, I had to make myself smaller, so that others could feel big. I allowed my daughters to believe that their worth was defined by the cruelty of people who could only see status."
The crowd was completely silent, listening intently to every word.
"But I learned that true strength doesn't hide," Sofía continued, a beautiful smile spreading across her face. "True strength builds a bigger table so that everyone can eat. Today, we celebrate not just a company, but freedom. We celebrate the right of every woman, every girl, and every child to sit at the front, to hold their heads high, and to know that their value is immeasurable."
The entire audience erupted into loud, thunderous applause. People stood up, cheering, many of them moved to tears by her powerful words.
As Sofía stepped down from the stage, two little figures rushed toward her. Emilia, now looking tall and confident, and Camila, giggling happily, threw their arms around their mother's waist. They were wearing beautiful, matching embroidered dresses, completely clean and bright.
"You were amazing, Mommy!" Emilia said, looking up at her with adoration.
"Can we eat the cake now?" Camila asked, pointing toward a massive, beautiful three-tiered chocolate cake decorated with edible flowers.
Sofía laughed, a sound full of pure joy, and kissed them both. "Yes, my loves. We can eat the cake now. In fact, you two get the very first slices."
As they walked together toward the main table located right in the center of the garden, Sofía paused for a moment, looking up at the clear blue sky.
Thousands of miles away, in a cold, gray prison cell, Diego was scrubbing floors, facing a long decade of isolation. In a small, dilapidated room in a poor neighborhood, Amparo sat alone, counting her remaining coins, ignored by the family she had once tried so hard to impress.

But here, under the warm sun, surrounded by love, true loyalty, and honest success, Sofía sat down at the head of the grand table. She placed Emilia on her right and Camila on her left. They laughed, held hands, and began their meal.
The battle was over. The victory was complete. Sofía and her daughters had finally claimed their rightful place at the table, and this time, no one would ever take it away from them.
