Chapter 4 - The Federal Blitzkrieg

At two o'clock sharp, three dark green military humvees escorted my black armored SUV onto the plaza of the Charles R. Jonas Federal Courthouse in downtown Charlotte.

The plaza was packed with hundreds of reporters, news vans, and protest groups holding signs that read “ARREST COLONEL GARDNER” and “JUSTICE FOR THE FERGUSONS.”

When my vehicle came to a stop, six fully armed Military Police officers in tactical gear stepped out first, establishing a secure perimeter around the SUV.

I stepped out onto the pavement.

I was once again wearing my Service Army Green Uniform—flawlessly tailored, medals gleaming in the afternoon sun, my silver Colonel eagles shining on my shoulders. I didn't look at the shouting media. I didn't look at the protest signs. I walked with chin held high, my back straight, stepping through the double glass doors of the courthouse like a general marching into a conquered city.

Inside the high-ceilinged conference room on the fifth floor sat Special Agent in Charge William Vance of the FBI, United States Attorney Thomas Wright, and six federal prosecutors.

"Colonel Gardner," US Attorney Wright said, standing up and shaking my hand firmly. "General Vance briefed us an hour ago. We've reviewed the preliminary files your intelligence team forwarded."

I sat down at the head of the conference table, placing the metallic USB drive in the center of the wood.

"Inside this drive," I stated without preamble, "you will find raw, unedited, cryptographically verified video evidence of felony domestic abuse, false imprisonment, extortion, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault perpetrated by Nicholas, Gregory, and Patricia Ferguson against my daughter, Abigail Ferguson."

Agent Vance pulled out a tablet and plugged the USB drive in. Within seconds, the room was filled with the clear, high-definition video of Nicholas shoving Abigail into the glass table, followed by Patricia taking her phone and slapping her across the face.

The federal prosecutors gasped. One of the female attorneys choked back an exclamation of disgust.

"My God..." US Attorney Wright breathed, his face turning pale. "They lied to the entire country on live television."

"That’s only the beginning," I said, leaning forward. "Major Lin, present the financial ledgers."

Major Lin laid out three thick binders containing thousands of pages of bank records, wire transfers, and fraudulent tax documents.

"Ferguson Global Holdings has engaged in systemic racketeering, wire fraud, bank fraud, and federal tax evasion under the RICO Act," Major Lin explained sharply. "The evidence includes signed bribe receipts to Charlotte municipal judges and zoning board members, as well as secret property transfers to offshore shell companies."

US Attorney Wright stared at the documents, his eyes wide with shock. "This... this is enough to freeze every single asset the Ferguson family owns. We can seize their mansions, their bank accounts, their vehicles, and their corporate headquarters under federal asset forfeiture laws within two hours."

"Do it," I said, my voice cold and absolute. "And I want federal arrest warrants issued for Patricia, Nicholas, and Gregory Ferguson for felony RICO conspiracy, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and civil rights violations."

Agent Vance looked up from his tablet, a grim, determined smile spreading across his face. "Colonel, it will take me ninety minutes to assemble the SWAT teams."

"Assemble them," I ordered. "And tell your team that Colonel Rachel Gardner will be personally accompanying the federal arresting officers to the Ferguson estate."
