Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Table

Two years later, the grand courtyard of the beautifully renovated Vance-Bradford estate was filled with music, laughter, and the bright scent of summer flowers. The old, dark, suffocating energy of the mansion was completely gone. The high stone walls had been torn down, replaced by wide, open glass pavilions and beautiful, rolling lawns where children could run freely.

Today was a celebration of a different kind. It was the grand opening of the Vance Foundation, a massive global initiative funded entirely by my marketing empire, dedicated to providing housing, legal protection, and business grants to single mothers fighting for their children against powerful families.

The guest list was massive, but it didn't consist of fake politicians or arrogant aristocrats. The tables were filled with brilliant women, young entrepreneurs, honest workers, and families who had survived the darkest storms of life.

I stood on the beautiful outdoor stage, wearing a stunning, elegant emerald gown—the very same color I wore the day I changed our destinies.

"Two years ago, I walked onto this estate to face the people who wanted to erase me," I spoke into the microphone, my voice clear, powerful, and ringing with absolute victory. "They wanted to put me at a small table in the dark corner near the kitchen, hidden away from the world. But I learned a very valuable lesson: you don't beg for a seat at a table built on cruelty. You build your own."

The crowd erupted into a thunderous ovation, the applause echoing across the hills.

As I stepped down from the stage, Garrett walked toward me. He looked healthy, happy, and genuinely at peace. He held two glasses of sparkling cider, handing one to me with a look of profound respect and adoration in his eyes.

"You were incredible, Audrey," he said softly, clinking his glass against mine. "As always."

"Thank you, Garrett," I smiled, looking out over the lawn. We weren't the broken couple we used to be; we had built a healthy, supportive co-parenting relationship founded on honesty and mutual respect.

Suddenly, a loud shout of laughter cut through the air.

"Mommy! Daddy! Look at us!"

Running across the grass were seven-year-old Leo, Owen, and Wyatt. They were dressed in comfortable, stylish summer clothes, their faces bright with absolute joy and mischief. They rushed up to the grand, massive circular table located right in the very center of the sunlit courtyard—the main table.

They jumped onto the chairs, laughing and cheering as my mother and our close friends sat beside them, passing around plates of delicious food.

I looked at my three beautiful boys, sitting proudly at the center of the world we had created, their laughter filling the summer air. The battle was over. The legacy was secure. We had finally claimed our rightful place at the absolute head of the table, and this time, the whole world was cheering.
