Chapter 7 - Sunrise Over the Estate

The next morning, the sunlight streamed through the tall arched windows of the breakfast room, bathing the polished oak table in a warm, golden glow.
For the first time in over a year, there was actual laughter in the air.
Martina and Daniela were sitting side by side, actually chatting animatedly about a school art project instead of eating in terrified silence. Across from them sat Rosa, pouring fresh orange juice with a gentle smile gracing her lips.
When I walked into the room, dressed casually in a soft linen shirt and slacks, the girls immediately hopped off their chairs and ran over to wrap their arms around my waist.
“Good morning, Dad!” Daniela cheered.
“Good morning, my loves,” I smiled, kissing the top of their heads before looking up at Rosa, who stood by the counter with a respectful yet warm expression.
I walked over to her, extending my hand. Rosa looked down at my hand for a second, then looked up into my eyes, and instead of shaking it, she stepped forward and embraced me in a brief, deeply respectful hug of mutual understanding.
“Thank you, Rosa,” I said quietly, my voice filled with profound gratitude. “For your loyalty. For your patience. And for protecting my daughters when I failed to do so.”
“They are wonderful children, sir,” Rosa replied softly, wiping a stray tear from the corner of her eye. “I only did what any mother would have done.”

“From now on, things are going to be very different around here,” I announced, turning back to face the entire room. “No more rushed business trips. No more strangers running this household. Starting today, my priority is right here. With my daughters. With my family.”
The girls cheered, running back to the table to finish their breakfast. The dark cloud that had hovered over the mansion for so long had finally been blown away by the truth.
