Chapter 3 - Corporate Extinction

Carmen Robles believed wealth was a shield, but she didn't understand the difference between new, superficial money and deep, institutional power. Javier’s prestigious law firm relied heavily on corporate retainers from Dallas's elite developers—developers who owed their entire careers to Alexander.

By noon, the counter-attack began.

Alexander didn't fire a single bullet; he used his pen like a scalpel. He called in every favor, every debt, and every alliance he had built over thirty years. By 2:00 PM, three of the largest real estate conglomerates in Texas abruptly terminated their contracts with Javier’s law firm, citing "ethical irregularities."

Simultaneously, Alexander’s legal team filed an emergency, high-profile divorce petition on behalf of Sofia, attaching the certified medical records, the photographs of her battered body, and a forensic digital analysis of the text messages Carmen had sent. Because Texas is a public-records state, the filing wasn't quiet. It leaked to the press within thirty minutes.

Headline after headline began flooding Dallas media: “Prominent Attorney Javier Robles Accused of Brutal Wedding-Night Assault Over Luxury Real Estate.”

I stood by the window of the estate, watching Sofia sleep, when Alexander walked in, holding a tablet. "The firm just suspended Javier," he said flatly. "And the Texas State Bar association has just opened an expedited investigation into his license."

"It's not enough, Alexander," I said, my hands trembling as I thought of the women who had held Sofia down. "Carmen has six other women with her. They laughed while they hit her. They need to go to prison."

"They will," Alexander promised, his eyes dark. "My team tracked the security footage from the hotel hallway. We have the identities of all six women. They are Carmen's sisters and close friends. By tomorrow morning, the Dallas District Department will have felony conspiracy and aggravated assault warrants ready for all of them."

But the Robles family was cornered, and a cornered rat is always the most dangerous.
