Chapter 5 - The Healing Garden

Three weeks later, the Texas spring bloomed in full brilliance across the grounds of the Rivers estate.
The security cameras in the west wing had been fully restored, upgraded to military-grade encryption, and tested a hundred times over. But more importantly, the heavy, dark cloud that had hovered over the house for two long years was finally gone.
In the sunlit courtyard behind the mansion, a brand-new white wooden playhouse stood proudly beside a bed of blooming pink azaleas.
Six-year-old Lily sat on the grass, wearing a bright yellow sundress, her brown teddy bear sitting safely propped up beside her on a picnic blanket. Her cheeks were rosy, her laughter bubbling up into the afternoon air as she chased a stray butterfly across the lawn.
Julian sat on a wrought-iron bench nearby, sipping a cup of coffee while reviewing architectural blueprints for his next logistics expansion.
Mrs. Gomez walked out onto the patio, carrying a tray of fresh lemonade and strawberry tarts, setting them down on the table beside him.
“She looks happier every day, Mr. Rivers,” Mrs. Gomez said softly, smiling as she watched Lily skip across the grass.
“She’s finally home, Mrs. Gable,” Julian replied, a deep, genuine sense of peace settling into his chest. “Really home.”
Lily suddenly stopped running, turning around and spotting her father on the bench. A brilliant, gap-toothed smile lit up her face.

“Daddy! Come play!” she called out, waving her small hands excitedly.
Julian smiled, setting his blueprints aside. He stood up, brushed off his trousers, and walked across the green lawn toward his daughter. As Lily ran into his arms, lifting her high into the air as she giggled uncontrollably, Julian knew that no enemy, no shadow, and no ghost from the past would ever threaten their family again.
