Chapter 5 - The Cabin Turns

"You monster!" a woman in row eleven shouted. "You delayed a medical transport just to cover your own corporate rear end?!"

"I paid for that contract!" Evelyn screamed, her face contorted in rage, all pretenses of class completely gone. "My firm owned the distribution rights! The hospital defaulted on the payment terms! I was just taking back what belonged to my company!"

"By stealing seats from a mother with a newborn baby?" the air marshal said coldly. He produced heavy tactical zip-ties from his jacket. "Evelyn Vance, you are under federal arrest for interference with flight crew, baggage theft, and endangerment of critical medical cargo."

The entire cabin erupted into thunderous applause as the air marshal escorted Evelyn, now handcuffed with zip-ties, to the back row of the plane under the watchful guard of two male flight attendants.

The man who had previously muttered about the flight being delayed stood up in the aisle, looking down at his feet in utter shame. He turned to me, his voice trembling. "Ma'am... I am so, so sorry. I spoke out of turn earlier. I had no idea."

"We all owe you an apology," the woman across from row twelve added, wiping a tear from her eye. "You were just trying to protect your children."

Hannah came up to me, her eyes red with emotion. She took my hand gently. "Clara, please. Follow me."

She led Lucy, Caleb, and me straight past row twelve, all the way to the front of the aircraft.

"The captain opened the First Class suite for you," Hannah whispered, opening the plush curtain. "Two open seats in row one. With full legroom, hot towels, and complete quiet for the baby."

As we walked into First Class, the passengers throughout the main cabin stood up and cheered for Lucy.

Lucy held her moon-embroidered backpack tightly against her chest, her cheeks dimpling with a shy, proud smile.
