Chapter 7 - The New Dawn

The soft, warm light of the early morning sun filtered through the high arched glass windows of a penthouse suite overlooking the East River.
I sat on a comfortable linen sofa, wrapped in a soft wool blanket, holding a warm cup of hot chocolate. The television mounted on the wall was playing a live news broadcast from 5th Avenue.
"...In breaking news this morning, federal authorities have executed a series of sweeping warrants against Aethelgard Industries. CEO Julian Vance was taken into custody at Westchester County Airport earlier today, facing multiple federal indictments for corporate fraud, illegal antiquities trafficking, and domestic terrorism..."
The reporter’s voice faded as the screen showed footage of Vance being led away in handcuffs by federal agents, his pristine white coat ruined, his face pale and defeated.
Dominic Russo walked into the living room, holding a folder of legal documents. He was wearing a fresh suit, his face showing a few minor bruises from our escape, but his eyes were filled with profound peace.
"The federal freeze on my accounts was lifted an hour ago," Dominic said, sitting down in the armchair across from me. "Marcus and Vance’s entire network have been dismantled. They will never threaten anyone again."
He placed the legal folder on the glass coffee table in front of me.
"What is this?" I asked.
"It’s the deed to your father’s original family estate in Upstate New York," Dominic smiled gently. "And the paperwork establishing the William Hart Educational Foundation—a fifty-million-dollar trust dedicated to preserving ancient languages and supporting underprivileged students across the country."
He looked at me, his expression full of deep respect and warmth.
"You are no longer a waitress hiding in the shadows, Olivia," Dominic said softly. "You are the head of the Hart estate, the primary trustee of the foundation, and, if you'll accept it... a daughter to this house."
I looked out the high glass windows at the bright blue sky over Manhattan. The city was bustling with life, moving forward into a new day.
For two years, I had walked those streets with my head down, terrified that my father's legacy would destroy me. But last night, beneath the cold stone of Central Park, I had faced the darkness and honored his memory.
I looked down at my hand. The small scar on my thumb from the vault's needle was fading, a quiet reminder of who I truly was.
I reached out, took the pen from the table, and signed my true name across the foundation documents:
Olivia Hart.
I looked up at Dominic, a bright, beautiful smile lighting up my face.

"I think my father would really like that," I whispered.
