Chapter 6 - The Turning Point

The second operative raised his rifle, aiming directly at Leo. "End of the line, kids."

Suddenly, a shot echoed from the doorway. The operative’s rifle flew out of his hand as a bullet shattered his shoulder. He screamed, dropping to his knees.

Julian stood in the doorway, smoke curling from the barrel of his gun, his eyes blazing with absolute demonic fury. He looked like the grim reaper himself.

"You touched my sons," Julian spoke in a low, terrifying growl that made even the hardened mercenaries freeze. "And for that, none of you are leaving this estate alive."

In a blur of motion, Julian crossed the room, disarming the kneeling operative with a swift kick and slamming him into the wall until he passed out. He spun around just as the first intruder recovered from Marisol's jewelry box attack and lunged toward them with a combat knife.

Before Julian could pull the trigger, Marisol stepped forward with unexpected agility. She swept her leg out, catching the intruder’s knee in a textbook martial arts low-kick, buckling his leg, and allowing Julian to slam the butt of his gun into the man's temple, dropping him cold to the floor.

Silence descended on the room, broken only by the ragged breathing of the children and the distant wails of police sirens approaching the gates—sirens that Marcus, who had finally proven his loyalty by cutting off the syndicate's backup units outside, had managed to call in.

Julian dropped his gun, falling to his knees as his three sons rushed forward, burying their faces in his chest. He wrapped his arms around them, holding them tighter than he ever had in his life.

Over their small shoulders, Julian looked up at Marisol. Her apron was torn, her hair was slightly disheveled, but she stood tall, breathing evenly.

"Who... who are you, Marisol?" Julian asked, his voice shaking with a mix of awe and gratitude. "You fight like a ghost."

Marisol offered a faint, mysterious smile. "Let’s just say I used to protect people who couldn't protect themselves. And right now, these boys are the only clients that matter."
