Chapter 8 - The Final Vow

On a warm evening in late June, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel—the very venue Nico had used six years earlier to forge his lies—was filled with three hundred guests.

The room was adorned with white orchids, warm candlelight, and the soft, soaring melody of a forty-piece orchestra.

Elena walked down the long silk runner in a breathtaking gown of hand-embroidered French lace, her arm linked with the city's most respected maestro. At the altar stood Sophie, wearing a pale blue flower-girl dress, proudly holding the gold wedding bands on a velvet pillow.

When Elena reached the altar, I took her hands into mine. Her fingers were warm, steady, and adorned with the vintage emerald heirloom ring that had belonged to my grandmother.

"I spent six years living in an empire of stone and shadows, believing I was whole," I said, my voice carrying clearly to every corner of the silent hall. "You taught me that true power is not the fear you command in the dark, but the courage to protect the light of the family you love. I vow to stand before every storm, to walk beside you as an equal, and to ensure that our daughter never knows a day without love, safety, and honor."

Elena smiled through joyful tears, her hazel eyes locking onto mine with an unshakeable bond forged through fire. "You found us in the cold, Matteo. And you gave us the world."

When our lips met beneath the arch of white roses, the entire ballroom erupted into a thunderous standing ovation that shook the crystal chandeliers overhead.

Standing on the terrace later that night, with Sophie asleep safely in my arms and Elena leaning against my chest under the stars, I looked out over the vast, glittering expanse of the city below.

The shadows of the past had been burned to ash. The wolves had been conquered.

And ahead of us lay an endless, beautiful horizon—bound by truth, illuminated by love, and forever whole.
