Chapter 4 - The Traitor Unmasked

Dominic lowered his hand slowly, a bitter smirk breaking across his face as the mask finally slipped away.
"You were always too sharp, Julian," Dominic sneered, taking a step back until the guards pressed the barrels of their guns against his spine. "Six years ago, you were getting soft. Talking about legitimizing the shipping lanes, pulling out of the docks, going straight for Elena and the kid."

"I ordered the hit on you," Dominic spat. "Elena took your route that morning by mistake. My men panicked when they saw the kid in the back. They grabbed him, staged the fire with a corpse from the morgue, and were supposed to put the kid down later. But the driver messed up, the boy ran into the woods, and we lost him. I thought he froze to death in those Indiana pines!"
"And the shipping containers at the port?"
"My safety net," Dominic laughed grimly. "If you ever found out the truth, I had enough planted evidence to put you in federal prison for the rest of your life. The feds are on their way right now, Julian. You're finished."

"You forgot one detail, Dominic," I said, standing up and walking toward him until we were chest to chest. "This is my city. And you brought war into my house."
