Chapter 6 - THE GARDEN OF Miracles

One Year Later.

The coastal estate in Long Island was bathed in the warm, golden glow of a late summer afternoon.

The ocean breeze rustled through the massive oak trees, carrying the scent of blooming jasmine and sea salt across the rolling green lawns.

Near the central marble fountain, a massive white silk marquee had been set up, decorated with thousands of white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and crystal chandeliers suspended from wooden beams.

A joyful crowd of over four hundred guests filled the lawn—not mobsters with hidden weapons, but medical professionals, pediatric patients, charity donors, and family friends.

Sitting on a picnic blanket near the flower garden were ten-year-old Leo and eight-year-old Lily.

Lily wasn't wearing a leg brace. She wasn't holding a walker.

She was wearing a beautiful yellow flower girl dress, sprinting across the grass at full speed, playing tag with her brother and three other children from the local pediatric center, her high-pitched laughter ringing clear across the estate.

Standing on the grand veranda overlooking the lawn was Emma.

She looked breathtaking.

Her wedding gown was a masterpiece of champagne silk and hand-stitched lace, designed specifically to celebrate her lush, hourglass figure. The fitted bodice highlighted her narrow waist, while the long lace train cascaded down the stone steps behind her. Her hair was swept up in soft curls, braided with tiny white orchids.

Beside her stood her mother, looking healthy, vibrant, and fully recovered following her successful kidney transplant six months ago.

“You look like an angel, Emma,” her mother said, wiping tears of joy from her eyes. “I remember when you used to come home from scrubbing floors, crying because your back hurt so much... look at you now.”

Emma smiled, hugging her mother tightly. “I’m happy, Mom. So profoundly happy.”

Down at the altar near the ocean cliff, Gabriel stood waiting.

He was dressed in a pristine white tuxedo jacket with dark trousers, looking ridiculously handsome. His dark eyes were fixed on the veranda, waiting for the single moment that mattered in his entire life.

The harpist began to play a soft, romantic melody.

The guests stood up, turning toward the stone steps.

Lily and Leo led the procession down the aisle, tossing rose petals onto the white runner, both children smiling brightly at their father.

Then came Emma.

She walked down the aisle alone, her head held high, her chest filled with radiant confidence. She didn't walk like a maid trying to be invisible. She walked like a woman who knew her worth, stepping toward the man who had seen her soul when the rest of the world looked away.

As she reached the altar, Gabriel stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his massive, warm grip.

His eyes were shiny with unshed tears as he looked down at her.

“You are my miracle, Emma,” Gabriel whispered, his voice loud enough for only her to hear.

The officiant spoke the ancient words of union, but neither Gabriel nor Emma needed a script. Their souls had been bound together from the moment he watched her hold his broken child in the dark sunroom.

“Do you, Gabriel Moretti, take Emma Brooks to be your lawful wedded wife, to love and protect, in shadow and light, for as long as you both shall live?”

“I do,” Gabriel said, his voice ringing with absolute, ironclad certainty.

“And do you, Emma Brooks, take Gabriel Moretti to be your lawful wedded husband?”

“I do,” Emma smiled, tears of joy reflecting the afternoon sun.

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant announced warmly. “Mr. Moretti, you may kiss your bride.”

Gabriel didn't wait a single second.

He wrapped his strong arms around Emma’s waist, lifting her slightly off her feet, and pulled her into a deep, passionate, life-affirming kiss that sealed their fate forever!

The entire lawn erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and joyous celebration!

Lily and Leo ran up to the altar, throwing their arms around their parents' legs. Gabriel lowered Emma down, picking up Lily in one arm and pulling Emma flush against his side with the other, while Leo held onto his mother’s dress.

The four of them stood together under the canopy of white roses, framed by the infinite blue of the ocean.
