Chapter 6 - A New Morning

One Year Later
The morning sun flooded through the tall windows of the penthouse suite, casting warm, golden light across the hardwood floors.
Seven-year-old Lily was bouncing on the edge of the bed, her laughter filling the air as she held up a drawing she had spent the last hour working on. It showed a big hotel with a green garden, a little girl holding a rabbit, a father, and an angel in the sky surrounded by red roses.
"Look, Daddy!" Lily beamed, handing me the paper. "I drew Mommy watching over our hotel!"
"It's beautiful, sweetheart," I smiled, pulling her into a warm hug and pressing a kiss to her crown. "Mommy would love it."
A gentle knock sounded at the door.
Lupita stepped into the suite, wearing a sharp executive suit and holding a clipboard. Over the past year, under her leadership, customer satisfaction scores at The Grand Regent had reached the highest levels in the history of the corporation. More importantly, the hotel had become famous nationwide for its compassionate workplace culture and community outreach programs.
"Good morning, Mr. Vance! Good morning, Lily!" Lupita greeted us warmly.
"Good morning, Miss Lupita!" Lily cheered, jumping off the bed to give her a hug around the waist.
"The morning staff meeting is ready, Ethan," Lupita said with a confident, brilliant smile. "The new trainees for the Sarah Vance Academy have arrived for their first orientation."
"I'll be right down, Lupita," I said.
I picked up Lily, holding her on my hip as we walked over to Sarah’s portrait one last time before heading downstairs. The red roses in the vase below her painting were fresh, blooming, and fragrant.
I looked at Sarah’s windblown hair and bright smile in the painting, feeling a deep, profound sense of fulfillment. We had lost so much, but through the darkness, we had preserved what mattered most.
"Ready to go help people today, Lilybug?" I asked softly.
May you like
Lily wrapped her tiny arms around my neck, resting her cheek against mine. "Ready, Daddy."
Together, we walked out of the suite and stepped into the light of a brighter, kinder world.
