Chapter 6 - THE QUEEN OF NEW YORK

One year later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the rolling green hills of the Long Island Sound.
The Moretti estate had been decorated in grand, fairytale splendor. Thousands of blooming white orchids, yellow roses, and sweet jasmine covered the grand marble arches, the stone pathways, and the high iron gates.
Over five hundred guests sat in elegant white silk chairs arranged across the grand lawn overlooking the ocean.
Among them sat the reformed heads of the five families, federal officials, harbor workers, and estate staff—all gathered together in peace and celebration.
At the head of the floral altar stood Alessandro Moretti.
He looked extraordinarily handsome, dressed in a tailored white tuxedo jacket with dark trousers, his dark hair neatly styled, his black eyes glowing with a deep, radiant joy. Standing beside him as his best man was Marco.
The piano began to play a sweet, romantic symphony across the sunlit grounds.
Walking down the aisle first were nine-year-old Matteo and four-year-old Lily.
Matteo wore a matching white tuxedo, walking proud and strong, while little Lily wore a sweet yellow dress, throwing handfuls of bright rose petals from a small silver basket. She held onto Matteo’s hand tightly, her small face glowing with pure happiness.
The crowd stood up, applauding softly as the two children took their places beside their father.
Then, the grand mahogany doors of the mansion opened.
Sophia Reyes walked out onto the green lawn.
She was a vision of absolute, breathtaking majesty. Her custom-made bridal gown of rich ivory silk was designed to honor and celebrate every single voluptuous, plush curve of her body. The off-the-shoulder neckline highlighted her glowing skin, while an intricate lace train embroidered with golden rose patterns trailed twelve feet behind her. Her dark hair fell in luxurious, soft waves around her shoulders, crowned with a tiara of diamonds and emeralds.
She held a bouquet of white orchids and yellow ribbon—the same yellow ribbon Lily had worn in her hair eighteen months ago.
As her hazel eyes met Alessandro’s, the mighty Don of New York felt his breath catch in his chest, a lump rising in his throat that nearly brought tears to his eyes.
Sophia walked down the aisle with pride, grace, and an undeniable queenly presence. She was no longer the frightened housekeeper hiding in staff rooms. She was the undisputed heart, soul, and sovereign of the empire.
Alessandro stepped down from the altar, reaching out both of his large, warm hands to take hers as she reached him.
"You are my miracle, Sophia," Alessandro whispered, his voice trembling slightly with overwhelming love.
"And you are my home, Alessandro," Sophia replied softly, her eyes shining with pure joy.
The priest stepped forward, opening his gold-leafed gospel book as the summer ocean breeze rustled the rose petals around them.
"We are gathered here today," the priest began, "to join Alessandro Moretti and Sophia Reyes in holy matrimony. A union born not of politics or power, but of courage, healing, and absolute love."
When the time came for the vows, Alessandro held both of Sophia’s hands, looking directly into her eyes without looking at any paper.
"Sophia," Alessandro said, his deep baritone voice carrying clearly across the quiet, sunlit lawn. "When you walked into my house, I was a man built of iron and stone. I thought my life was meant only for war and protection. But you and Lily brought warmth, truth, and love into my dark world. You saved my son, and you saved my soul."
He slipped a thick platinum ring set with a flawless emerald onto her soft finger.
"I vow to love you, honor you, and shield you with my life for as long as I breathe," Alessandro swore fiercely.
Sophia wiped a tear of joy from her cheek, taking a matching platinum band.
"Alessandro," Sophia whispered softly, her voice rich with emotion. "You showed me that true strength isn't about fear—it's about love. You gave my daughter a father, and you gave me a king who cherishes me for exactly who I am. My heart, my life, and my soul belong to you forever."
She slipped the ring onto his heavy finger.
"By the authority vested in me," the priest announced with a wide smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife! What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. You may kiss the bride!"
Alessandro didn't wait a single second.
He wrapped his massive arms around Sophia’s broad, silk-clad waist, pulling her flush against his chest, and dipped her low, kissing her deeply, passionately, as the entire crowd erupted into wild, thunderous applause.
Matteo and Lily ran forward, throwing their arms around their parents' legs, laughing happily under the golden sun.
Alessandro lifted Sophia back onto her feet, then bent down, scooping up both Matteo and Lily into his massive arms, holding his wife and his children tight against his heart.

The fear, the shadows, and the violence were gone forever.
And as the warm summer breeze carried the scent of roses across the blue waters of the bay, the mafia king, his beautiful queen, and their children walked hand in hand into their new life—safe, unbroken, and blooming forever.
