Chapter 6 - The Boss's Protection

The second enforcer pulled a knife, but Leo didn't even flinch. He spun his cane with blinding speed, striking the man sharply across the temple. The enforcer collapsed into the pile of dirty subway newspapers, completely unconscious.

The remaining passengers in the car fled to the opposite end of the train, screaming in terror.

Leo turned to look at Clara. He was wearing a fresh dark blue suit, his expression as calm as if he were taking a morning walk in Central Park. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the black business card he had given her the night before.

"You didn't call the number, Clara," Leo said, his voice a smooth, dangerous melody.

Clara stared at the two unconscious mafia enforcers on the floor, then up at him. "You... you aren't Tommy Rossi. You aren't an import-export consultant."

"No," Leo admitted, stepping over the scarred man's groaning body and offering Clara his hand. "My name is Leo Castellano. And these men work for a family that is about to become extinct. Come with me."

Clara looked at his hand—large, powerful, and unyielding. For three years, she had been running through the dark, waiting for the final blow to fall. But as she looked into Leo’s dark, protective eyes, she realized that the storm hadn't come to destroy her.
