Chapter 6 - A New Beginning
One year later.
The grand gardens of the Vance estate were decorated with white roses and soft, glowing fairy lights. It was a beautiful, clear summer evening, and the atmosphere was filled with the music of a live orchestra and the genuine laughter of close friends.
Molly stood in front of a full-length mirror inside the estate’s pavilion. She wore a stunning, elegant lace gown that flowed around her like water. Her hair was pinned up beautifully, and her eyes sparkled with a peace she had never known in her youth. She was no longer the invisible waitress hiding in the shadows of the frame. She was the center of it.
A soft whine made her look down. Goliath stood there, wearing a comical black bowtie around his thick neck, his tail thumping happily against the floorboards.
"You look very handsome, Goliath," Molly giggled, leaning down to kiss his forehead, completely unafraid of ruining her dress.
The door opened, and Alexander walked in. He stopped dead in his tracks, his breath catching in his throat as he looked at his bride. The man who had faced down rival syndicates and corrupt politicians without blinking had tears in his eyes.
"You are absolutely breathtaking, Molly," he said softly, walking over and taking both of her hands in his.
"I used to think the safest place to stand was out of frame, Alexander," Molly said, looking up into his eyes with absolute devotion. "But with you, I finally feel like I’m exactly where I belong."

"I will spend the rest of my life keeping you safe in the center of my world," Alexander promised, his voice thick with emotion.
Outside, the guests applauded as the heavy oak doors opened, and Molly Lane walked through, hand-in-hand with the man who loved her, while a massive, happy mastiff trotted proudly by their side. The girl who wouldn't let go of a dying dog had finally found a love that would never let go of her.
