Chapter 5 - The Final Gamble

However, the underworld of Harrow Falls never stayed quiet for long. Dylan Burroughs, driven to bankruptcy and humiliation after losing his contracts, had spent months plotting his revenge. He blamed Molly for everything. In his mind, if the little waitress hadn't brought the dog into the room, he would still be the king of the city.
One rainy evening, as Molly was closing up her animal shelter, the power suddenly went out. Goliath, who always stayed by her side, let out a low, menacing growl, his hackles rising.
"Molly Lane," a voice sneered from the darkness of the reception area.
Molly turned, her heart dropping as the flashlight beam hit her face. Standing there was Dylan Burroughs, his clothes disheveled, holding a gun. Next to him was Libby Kemp, her face hollowed out by bitterness and poverty, her eyes filled with manic hatred.
"You took everything from me," Libby hissed, stepping forward with a heavy iron pipe. "Look at me now! I am nothing because of you!"
"It wasn't Molly," she heard a deep voice ring out from the back entrance.
Dylan spun around, but before he could pull the trigger, Goliath lunged forward with a fierce roar, knocking Dylan to the ground and pinning his arm down, forcing him to drop the weapon.
Alexander stepped out of the shadows, his eyes burning with an absolute promise of death. Behind him, dozens of his men flooded the building, disarming Libby within seconds.
Alexander walked past the struggling Dylan and went straight to Molly, checking her arms and face for any injuries. "Are you alright?" he asked, his voice trembling with a rare flash of fear.

"I’m fine. Alexander, I’m fine," Molly breathed, wrapping her arms around him.
Alexander turned to his men, looking down at Dylan and Libby, who were now groveling on the floor. "I gave you a chance to leave this city," Alexander said, his voice dropping into a chilling whisper. "But you threatened the only woman who matters to me. Take them away. Ensure they never see the light of day in Harrow Falls again."
