Chapter 10 - A NEW EMPIRESix months later.

Spring had arrived in the city, covering the manicured grounds of the Torino estate in brilliant shades of green, white, and yellow.

The heavy black iron gates of the estate—once a symbol of fear and isolation—were now open during the day, allowing the warm breeze and the sounds of the neighborhood to drift through the grounds.

The estate had undergone a complete internal revolution.

The old corporate trust that had managed the property was dissolved. Carmen Martinez, now fully recovered from her illness, dressed in a sharp blazer and skirt, walked through the main study carrying a stack of architectural blueprints.

She was no longer a housemaid. She had been appointed as the Executive Director of the Torino Children's Foundation—a multi-million-dollar philanthropic trust established by Vincent to fund pediatric healthcare, housing assistance, and educational scholarships for underprivileged families across the state.

"The contractor says the new community center on Fifth Street will be completed by July, Mr. Torino," Carmen reported, setting the blueprints on his desk with a warm, professional smile.

Vincent sat behind his desk, looking healthy, relaxed, and younger than he had in decades. He had systematically dismantled his illegal operations over the past half-year, transitioning his entire empire into legitimate shipping, real estate, and green energy development.

"Good," Vincent smiled. "Make sure the kitchen facilities in the center are top-tier. I want cooking classes offered to the parents every evening."

"Already in the plans, sir," Carmen said gratefully.

At 4:00 PM, the heavy mahogany doors of the study burst open, and nine-year-old Isabella ran inside, wearing her brand-new school uniform and carrying a bright blue backpack.

"Uncle Vincent!" she called out happily.

Vincent stood up instantly, stepping around his desk, catching her in a hug as she ran up to him.

"How was school today, little one?" Vincent asked, setting her down.

"I got an A on my math test!" she declared proudly, pulling a paper stamped with a red star from her bag. "Fractions!"

"I never doubted you for a second," Vincent said, proudly examining the test before handing it to Carmen.

Marco Bellini stepped into the study, wearing a sharp grey suit, holding a leather clipboard. "Boss, the board members for the new harbor development project are waiting in the conference room."

Vincent looked at Marco, then down at Isabella, who was already eyeing the plate of fresh fruit and cookies sitting on the side table.

"Tell them to wait ten minutes, Marco," Vincent said smoothly.

Marco grinned, nodding. "Yes, Boss."

Vincent walked over to the small kitchen nook attached to the study, pulling out a loaf of fresh artisan bread, a block of sharp cheddar, and a tub of rich yellow butter.

He looked at Isabella and held up the butter knife.

"Supervise?" Vincent asked with a twinkle in his eye.

May you like

Isabella giggled, hopping onto a stool beside him. "Remember to butter the outside, Uncle Vincent. Or it burns."

"Outside," Vincent repeated solemnly, spreading the butter smoothly over the crust. "I won't forget."
