Chapter 6 - The Epilogue

Six months later, the spring sun was shining brightly over the Manhattan skyline, casting a warm golden glow across the sixty-fifth floor of Moretti Enterprises.
My office door was wide open. Inside, stacked neatly on my mahogany desk, were contract folios, corporate compliance reports, and legal filings for a thriving, newly expanded legal department that I now ran as General Counsel.
Down the hall, in the executive suite, Adriano Moretti was currently dealing with a far more terrifying opponent than corporate saboteurs or corrupt developers.
"Mr. Moretti," Clara’s voice rang out down the hallway, accompanied by the rapid click-click of pink-lit sneakers. "You're holding the blue crayon! That's not the sky, the sky is turquoise!"
I leaned back in my ergonomic leather chair, sipping my coffee, listening to the deep, resonant rumble of Adriano’s laughter echoing through the corporate tower.
My phone buzzed on the desk. I glanced down at the text message. It was a calendar reminder for tonight: 7:00 PM - Dinner at The Calabrese Room. Below it, a note from Adriano: Wear the blue dress. And make sure Clara brings her unicorn.

I smiled, locking my phone and sliding it into my pocket.
For the first time in my life, I didn't need to check the contract twice. I knew exactly what was written on every page, and for the first time, the future looked entirely, beautifully secure.
