Chapter 3: The Fall of a Powerful Man
Ricardo took a step backward.
The confidence he had built over years was gone.
The chief legal officer calmly slid one final document across the table.
"Actually," he said, "we can."
Ricardo looked down.
Immediate Termination Notice.
His breath caught in his throat.
For a moment, nobody spoke.
Then two security officers appeared beside him.
The trading floor watched in stunned silence as the man who once controlled everyone's future suddenly lost control of his own.
Victoria adjusted the strap of her purse.
Her job was done.
She turned and walked toward the elevators.
But the humiliation wasn't over.
Ricardo's phone suddenly began vibrating.
One notification.
Then another.
Then another.
Soon dozens flooded the screen.
Access revoked.
Corporate accounts frozen.
Company devices disabled.
Security credentials terminated.
Every privilege he had spent years abusing disappeared in less than sixty seconds.
The room watched as his entire professional empire collapsed before their eyes.
Victoria stepped into the elevator.
The doors slowly closed.
And for the first time in his career, Ricardo finally understood a truth he had never considered.
He had never been the most powerful person in the room.
He had simply mistaken fear for power.
And now, both were gone.
